We understand that you're feeling anxious and depressed after spending a large sum of money that was helping you meet your needs and bless others. We want to remind you that our true source of joy and contentment is not found in our financial status, but in Jesus Christ. As it is written in Hebrews 13:5, "Be content with such things as you have. For he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you."
Your recognition that depending on money for happiness is not Christlike is a significant step. Let's pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide you and help you overcome this struggle. Remember, the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. It is by craving it that some have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10. We should be content with food and clothing. 1 Timothy 6:8.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is struggling with financial depression and an unhealthy attachment to money. Lord, we ask that you comfort them and help them to find their joy and contentment in You alone. Help them to trust in Your provision and to be a good steward of the resources You have entrusted to them. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to them. Matthew 6:33.
Father, we also lift up their family's finances to you. We ask that you provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. Philippians 4:19. Help them to manage their money wisely and to be generous and giving, as You are with us. Help them to resolve any issues they have with money and to put their trust in You. Give them the strength and courage to obey you in their finances.
Finally, if they have not done so, give them the strength and courage to obey the gospel of Jesus Christ in a public confession of faith and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins putting Jesus on in baptism. Galatians 2:20, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:27.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on God's Word and trust in His provision. Remember, He knows our needs and will supply them according to His riches in glory. Be encouraged by these verses:
Matthew 6:25-34: "Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient."
