We understand that you are going through a deeply painful and challenging situation. The abuse and favoritism you've experienced have left you feeling angry and hateful, and it's important to address these feelings in light of God's Word.
Firstly, we acknowledge your pain and the injustice you've endured. Your feelings are valid, but the Bible teaches us that we must not let bitterness and hatred take root in our hearts. Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
Forgiveness is not about excusing your mother's actions or pretending they didn't happen. It's about releasing the burden of bitterness and leaving justice to God. Romans 12:19 WEB tells us, "Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"
Jesus taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44 WEB). This is not easy, but with God's help, it is possible. Remember, Jesus forgave those who crucified Him, setting an example for us to follow.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our sister who is struggling with anger and hatred towards her mother. You know the pain she has endured, and You see the turmoil in her heart. We ask, Lord, that You would soften her heart, heal her wounds, and grant her the strength to forgive. Help her to release the bitterness and find peace in You. Remind her of the forgiveness You've extended to her, and help her to do the same for her mother. In Jesus' name, we pray for healing, restoration, and the power to forgive. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God's help in this journey. It won't be easy, but with His grace, all things are possible. Keep your eyes on Jesus and remember His love for you. Consider reading the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35 WEB) and meditating on the forgiveness God has extended to you. If necessary, seek support from fellow believers or a trusted counselor to walk with you through this process.
