We read that one end time prophecy note is that wars and rumors of wars will increase. However, as I turn on the news, I hear that now we're in a "lull" with Iran, and even Israel and Lebanon are in an official "lull." Making me ask "if the wars are overcome, how can the prophecies be fulfilled?" But then we also read, "When they are saying 'peace and safety, sudden destruction shall come upon them.'" So I must believe what the Bible says, that this SEEMING peace is just a deception, temporary, and still within God's plan. Correct? Because even during the first 3 1/2 years of the antichrist, there's a DECEPTIVE AND TEMPORARY peace. So current seeming contradictions in the long run still follow God's plan... yes?

You’ve touched on a profound and often confusing aspect of biblical prophecy, especially as it relates to the end times. Your observations are astute, and your conclusion aligns with Scripture. Let’s walk through this together, seeking clarity and wisdom from God’s Word.

First, it’s important to remember that prophecy is not always fulfilled in a linear or immediately obvious way. The Bible tells us that in the last days, there will indeed be wars and rumors of wars, but it also warns of a deceptive peace that will precede sudden destruction. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24:6-8, *"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains."* Notice that Jesus doesn’t say these things will happen in a constant, unbroken escalation. Instead, He describes them as "birth pains," which come in waves—intense at times, but with periods of relative calm in between. This aligns with what you’re seeing in the news today. The "lulls" you observe are not contradictions to prophecy but part of the ebb and flow of events leading to the end.

The apostle Paul also speaks to this deception in 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3, where he writes, *"For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. For when they are saying, 'Peace and safety,' then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they won’t escape."* This passage is critical because it reveals that the world will be lulled into a false sense of security just before the final judgment. The "peace and safety" you hear about in the news is not true peace—it is a deception, a temporary calm before the storm. This is why we must not be deceived by appearances. The world may celebrate these moments of quiet, but as believers, we know they are fleeting and part of a larger, darker plan.

You also rightly pointed out the role of the antichrist in this deception. Daniel 9:27 describes how the antichrist will confirm a covenant with many for seven years, but in the middle of that period, he will break it and bring desolation. This covenant is likely the "deceptive peace" that will lull the world into a false sense of security. The temporary peace we see now, whether between nations or within regions, could very well be a precursor to this larger deception. It’s a reminder that we must stay vigilant, not putting our trust in the temporary peace of this world but in the eternal peace found only in Christ.

So, yes, your understanding is correct. The seeming contradictions we observe—moments of peace followed by sudden conflict—are not outside of God’s plan. They are part of the unfolding of His sovereign will, leading ultimately to the return of Christ and the establishment of His kingdom. We must not be swayed by the temporary calm or the deceptive promises of peace from world leaders. Instead, we must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and trust that He is in control.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that seek to understand Your Word and Your will. Lord, we thank You for the clarity of Scripture and for the wisdom it provides as we navigate these last days. We confess that at times, the events of the world can confuse us, and we can be tempted to doubt or fear. But Your Word reminds us that You are sovereign over all things, and nothing happens outside of Your plan.

Father, we ask for discernment as we watch the signs of the times. Help us not to be deceived by the temporary peace or the false promises of this world. Give us eyes to see the truth and hearts that are steadfast in You. We pray for those who are being lulled into a false sense of security, that You would open their eyes to the reality of what is coming and draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord, we also pray for strength and courage for Your people. In a world that is increasingly hostile to Your truth, help us to stand firm, to speak boldly, and to live lives that reflect Your love and holiness. May we be a light in the darkness, pointing others to the hope found only in Jesus.

We trust in Your perfect timing, Lord. Whether we see wars or rumors of wars, whether there is peace or sudden destruction, we know that You are in control. Help us to rest in that truth and to live each day with the expectation of Christ’s return.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Continue to study God’s Word, dear brother or sister, and let it be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. The world may offer temporary peace, but true peace is found only in Jesus Christ. Stay vigilant, stay faithful, and keep your eyes fixed on Him. The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, but we are not of the night nor of darkness—we are children of the light (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5). Walk in that light, and encourage others to do the same.

We've been reflecting on the signs of the times, haven't we? It's intriguing how the news cycles seem to ebb and flow, much like the tides. One moment, we're hearing about escalating tensions, and the next, it's like everyone's taken a collective breath, and things seem calm. It's easy to get caught up in the rhythm, isn't it? But as believers, we're called to look beyond the surface, to see the bigger picture that God's Word paints for us.

You've mentioned the deceptive peace that the Bible talks about, and it's true, it's a theme that runs throughout Scripture. In Matthew 24, Jesus Himself warns us about this. He says, "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened" (Matthew 24:21-22, NKJV). Notice, He doesn't say this will happen all at once, but rather, it's a process, a series of events leading up to the end.

We're living in a time where we see these events unfolding, aren't we? Wars and rumors of wars, nations rising against nations. But we also see moments of peace, of calm. It's like we're in the eye of the storm, and it's easy to get lulled into a false sense of security. But remember, even in the calm, the storm is still there, brewing just beneath the surface.

Let's pray together, shall we? Father, we thank You for Your Word, for the light it sheds on the times we're living in. Help us, Lord, to stay vigilant, to not be deceived by the temporary peace we see around us. Give us eyes to see the truth, hearts that are steadfast in You, and minds that are ready and waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let's keep watching, keep praying, and keep sharing the truth with those around us. The world may be quiet now, but we know that our redemption is drawing near. Let's live like it, dear friend.

Ok...we know from studying prophecy, (or reading up on it) that the Jews in Israel want to rebuild the temple. (Leading to, when the antichrist reinstated the worship and pretends to be backing them, they think he's the Messiah until he turns on them midway and they then accept the real God...
