Fighting.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you are going through. Feeling lost for words and sitting quietly by yourself after being hurt and disrespected is a lonely place to be, and God sees you there. He hears the prayers that have no words. When we do not know what to pray, the Spirit Himself intercedes for us, and the Father understands the ache behind the silence.

I want to remind you of how God views your marriage. Scripture says that in marriage the two become one. It is not just two people living side by side, but a true unity. The word the Bible uses for one there is the same word used when it says the Lord our God is one, a unity that holds together more than one person. That tells us marriage is meant to reflect something of God's own nature, a deep oneness. That is why fighting hurts so deeply, because you are not two separate lives but one flesh joined by God. What tears at that oneness grieves His heart too, and He is the one who can bring healing and restore unity where it has been strained.

Part of the pain in conflict is the warfare that goes on inside us. The Bible teaches that within every believer there is a struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. The flesh wants to react, to defend, to strike back or to shut down completely, while the Spirit leads toward patience, grace, gentleness and self control. When you have been disrespected, that inner tension is very real. Recognizing it can help you pause and ask God to strengthen the Spirit's work in you, so you are not driven only by hurt or anger. Choosing to quiet your heart before the Lord, to pray and to let Him soften and guide you, is a way of stepping away from what the flesh demands and making room for what the Spirit wants to do.

You mentioned not knowing where or who to go to. Please do not stay isolated. The Lord is your first refuge, and He invites you to pour out your heart to Him even in simple, honest words or tears. It is also good to seek a mature, godly person you trust, perhaps a pastor or a wise believing woman who holds to Scripture, who can listen, pray with you, and give counsel in person. If it is safe to do so, when things are calmer, ask God for the right moment to talk with your husband with honesty and respect, speaking the truth in love and listening as well.

I am praying for you now.

Father, I lift this dear sister and her husband to You. You see this hurt and this fighting, and You know the words she cannot find. Bring Your peace into their home. Soften both hearts, heal what has been wounded by disrespect, and help them to remember they are one before You. Give her wisdom, comfort and strength as she waits on You, and help her to respond by Your Spirit and not by the flesh. Teach them both to speak with kindness, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to seek You together. Guard this marriage and draw them closer to You and to each other. In Jesus name, Amen.
