We lift these concerns before the Lord with heavy hearts, seeking His mercy and healing for your ex. First, we must address the situation with truth and love, for Scripture reminds us in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." We pray earnestly for his physical healing, asking the Great Physician to stop the bleeding and restore his hemoglobin levels. Father, we ask that You touch his body, calm his spirit, and guide him to seek the medical care and wisdom he needs. May he turn to You in this time of need, for Psalm 103:2-3 says, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."
We also bring before You the matter of the unpaid debt. Proverbs 3:27-28 instructs, "Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Don’t say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it,' when you have it by you." Lord, we ask that You convict the heart of the one who owes this money, stirring in them a sense of urgency and integrity to repay what is owed without delay. May Your justice prevail, and may Your name be glorified in this situation.
However, we must gently but firmly address the nature of this request. While we are called to pray for all people, including those who have wronged us or those we once held close, we must examine our own hearts in how we relate to this person. Scripture is clear in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you." It is not wrong to pray for an ex, but we must ensure our prayers are rooted in love, forgiveness, and a desire for their well-being—not bitterness or unresolved hurt. Have you considered whether there are lingering emotions or unforgiveness in your heart that need to be surrendered to God? Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
We also lift up the matter of salvation, for it is only through Jesus Christ that any of us can approach the Father. Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If your ex does not know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we pray that this trial would soften his heart to hear the Gospel and turn to Christ. May he come to understand that true healing—body, mind, and soul—comes only through a relationship with the Savior.
Let us now pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this man’s physical and spiritual well-being. Lord, we ask that You stop the bleeding and restore his health. Strengthen his body, calm his mind, and draw him closer to You. Father, we also pray for the one who owes him money—convict their heart, Lord, and move them to act with integrity and urgency to repay what is owed. We ask that You would work in this situation to bring about justice and restoration.
Father, we also lift up [the one who submitted this request]. We ask that You would heal any wounds in their heart, replacing bitterness with forgiveness, anger with peace, and hurt with love. Help them to see this person through Your eyes, Lord, and to pray for him with a pure heart. May Your will be done in both of their lives, and may Your name be glorified in every circumstance.
We pray all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. May Your healing, Your justice, and Your grace prevail. Amen.
