Disciple of Prayer
I am feeling overwhelmed with the constant need to do for everyone else with little time for myself. When I do try to take time to myself to relax, pray, and take a bath, there is more often than not an interruption of something needing something from me or asking me something. I need help learning how to communicate my needs to my husband and 2 children and to honor God more with my time so that I don’t end my day bitter, tired, and not connecting with Him meaningfully. I trust in Jesus as my Savior and believe everything happening is meant to draw me closer to Him. I just want to feel more passionate about my walk with the Lord, rather than guilty when I don’t spend enough time with Him and resentful toward my family. This past week, Jesus has shown me a path to growing in my spiritual walk through morning and evening scripture reading and journal writing, and my family has been respectful of this time. I just pray it continues and that my heart is softened to my role as a mother. Thank you.

We hear the weariness in your heart, dear sister, and we lift you up before the Lord, for He sees your labor of love and knows the depths of your longing to honor Him even in the midst of motherhood’s relentless demands. You are not alone in this struggle—many godly women before you have walked this path, and the Lord has sustained them, just as He will sustain you. It is beautiful that you recognize this season as an opportunity to draw closer to Christ, for He is your strength and your portion, even when the days feel overwhelming.

The Scriptures remind us in **Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB)**, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You are already seeking the Lord in this, and that is a testament to your faith. But let us also remember **Galatians 6:9 (WEB)**, which encourages us: *"Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Motherhood is a sacred calling, and though it is exhausting, the Lord will reward your faithfulness.

Yet we must also address the practical and spiritual balance you seek. It is not selfish to communicate your needs—it is wise stewardship of the life God has entrusted to you. **Ephesians 5:22-33 (WEB)** outlines the roles within a marriage, and while wives are called to respect their husbands, husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church—sacrificially, tenderly, and with deep care. Your husband is called to be your helper, just as you are his. Have you shared with him the weight you carry? A humble, honest conversation—bathed in prayer—about how he might support you in carving out even small moments of rest and connection with the Lord could bear much fruit. Perhaps he could take the children for a short walk or engage them in an activity while you steal away for prayer. The Lord honors unity in marriage, and your husband may not realize how deeply you need his partnership in this.

To your children, you can lovingly teach them that Mama’s time with Jesus is sacred, just as their own quiet times or family devotions are. Even young children can learn to respect boundaries when they are framed as acts of worship. **Proverbs 22:6 (WEB)** tells us, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is an opportunity to model for them what it looks like to prioritize Christ above all else.

As for the guilt and resentment that creep in, we must rebuke these lies with the truth of God’s Word. **1 Peter 5:7 (WEB)** says, *"Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you."* You are not failing when you feel weary—you are human. But take heart, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). When you stumble, His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). When you feel you’ve fallen short, His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Your worth is not measured by how much you do but by how much Christ has done for you.

We also encourage you to examine your heart for idols—even good things can become idols when they take the place of Christ. Are you seeking fulfillment in being the "perfect" mother, or are you resting in the truth that Jesus is your perfection? Are you looking to your family to meet needs only He can fill? Surrender these expectations to Him, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious sister, who is pouring herself out for her family and longing to pour herself out for You. Lord, we ask that You renew her strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31). Fill her with Your Spirit so that she may walk in patience, joy, and gentleness, even in the midst of exhaustion. Soften her heart toward her children, that she may see them as gifts from You, and grant her wisdom to train them up in Your ways without growing weary.

Lord, we pray for her husband—that You would stir his heart to lead their family with love and intentionality. Open his eyes to see where he can serve and support her, that they may be united in this season. Give them both grace to communicate with kindness and clarity, and bind any spirit of resentment or bitterness that would seek to take root.

Father, we thank You that she desires to grow in her walk with You. Ignite a fresh passion in her soul for Your Word and Your presence. Help her to guard her time with You jealously, knowing that it is her lifeline. When interruptions come, let her respond with grace, but also give her the courage to set boundaries that honor You.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell her she is failing or that she must do it all in her own strength. Remind her, Lord, that You are her Shepherd, and she lacks nothing (Psalm 23:1). Restore her joy in motherhood, and let her home be a place where Your peace reigns.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would show her how to abide in You moment by moment—whether in the chaos of the day or the quiet of the night. Let her find her satisfaction in You alone, and may her family see Christ’s love through her.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Sister, keep pressing into Him. The days may feel long, but the years are short, and the Lord is faithful. He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6). You are not just a mother—you are His beloved daughter, and He delights in you. Walk in that truth today.

Hey there,

We're right there with you, feeling the weight of motherhood's constant demands. It's like trying to fill a bucket with a leak, isn't it? But remember, even in the relentless, Jesus is right there with you. He sees your efforts, your longings, and He's cheering you on.

We love that you're seeking Him in the morning and evening, and that your family is respecting that time. Keep pressing into that, sister. It's like a lifeline in the storm.

Now, let's talk about communication. It's not selfish to express your needs, it's wise. Your husband is your partner in this, and he needs to know how to support you. Why not sit down with him, maybe over a cup of tea or coffee, and just lay it all out? Tell him how you feel, what you need, and how he can help. Make sure to listen to him too, he might have some ideas you hadn't thought of.

As for the kids, they're little sponges, absorbing everything. Explain to them that Mommy needs her time with Jesus, just like they need their playtime or storytime. Make it a special, sacred time for all of you.

And listen, it's okay to feel overwhelmed, to feel guilty, or to feel resentful. Those feelings are normal, but they don't define you. You're doing a great job, and Jesus sees it all. He's right there, ready to carry your burdens.

So, let's pray. Dear Jesus, we lift this sister up to You. Fill her with Your strength, Your peace, and Your love. Help her to see her family as gifts from You, and give her wisdom to guide them. Stir her husband's heart to lead and support her. And Lord, help her to find joy in motherhood again, to see her home as a place of peace and love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep holding on, sister. You're not alone, and you're doing amazing.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
