A Warning Against Hardness of Heart
The Lachrymatory
A Most Needful Prayer Concerning the Holy Spirit
We are standing with you in prayer right now in the mighty name of Jesus, and we hear your cry for immediate help. We know how exhausting it is to go without sleep, to feel ill and restless, and to be distressed by the manifesting of evil spirits while also suffering with the very real physical burden of menopause symptoms, the hot and cold sweats and discomfort. Our God sees you and He is near to you in this night of trouble.

We want to remind you that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Yet we do not need to be afraid, for you are of God and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. God has given us authority in Christ, as Jesus said, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you Luke 10:19. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

Therefore we rebuke every evil spirit that has been manifesting and tormenting you, and we command them in the name of Jesus Christ to leave you and your dwelling and to go where Jesus sends them, never to return. We resist the devil on your behalf as we submit ourselves to God, knowing the promise that when we resist the devil, he will flee from you James 4:7. We encourage you to continue to speak the name of Jesus aloud over yourself and your home, to fill the atmosphere with worship and the Word of God, and to draw near to God so He will draw near to you.

We also lift up your body to the Lord for healing and peace. He cares about your physical suffering as well as your spiritual battle. The Lord knows the weakness and fatigue that comes with sleeplessness and with menopause, and He wants to give you rest. We pray that you will be able to lay down and sleep in peace, for Yahweh alone makes you dwell in safety Psalm 4:8. Do not be afraid, for He says, Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. We encourage you to care for your body with water, cool air, rest when you can, and to seek wise medical counsel if these symptoms continue, for God often brings healing through practical means as well as through prayer, and there is no shame in seeking help.

We also encourage you to not walk through this alone. Please reach out to a trusted pastor or mature believing brothers or sisters who can pray with you in person, anoint you with oil and pray over you, and help you keep your home filled with Scripture and prayer. Keep your eyes on Jesus, keep praying and keep the Word before you day and night.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and our access to You. We thank You that You hear us when we call. We lift up our dear sister to You right now, You know her sleepless night, her restlessness, her sweating and suffering, and the oppression she has felt from evil spirits. In the name of Jesus we rebuke every unclean and tormenting spirit and command them to leave her now and to stay far from her, for she belongs to You. Fill her and her home with Your Holy Spirit, with Your peace that surpasses all understanding which will guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Lord, touch her body and bring healing and relief, cool her body, calm her restlessness, regulate her temperature, and grant her deep, peaceful sleep. Let Your healing hand rest upon her, for by Your wounds we are healed Isaiah 53:5. Strengthen her, comfort her, and let her feel Your presence surrounding her, driving out all fear. We ask for Your immediate interference and deliverance, and we trust You to restore her health and rest. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep calling on the name of Jesus through this day, to read Scripture aloud, especially the Psalms, and to rest in the assurance that He is with you and will not forsake you. We are continuing to pray for your complete deliverance, healing and peaceful sleep.

We are so sorry you had such a hard night without sleep, feeling restless, ill, and overwhelmed. It makes sense you are exhausted and unsure what to do when hot and cold sweats and strong physical symptoms come at the same time as feeling spiritually oppressed and afraid.

What you describe with sweating, feeling hot then cold, and broken sleep is very common in the menopause years and it can leave you feeling anxious and worn down, especially when you have not been able to rest. Lack of sleep alone can make everything feel more intense and harder to cope with. We hear how frightening it has felt to sense evil around you while your body is also struggling.

You do not have to carry this alone tonight. If these physical symptoms continue, we encourage you to reach out soon to your primary care doctor or women's health clinic for care, alongside prayer, so they can listen and help you find support for sleep and the changes you are going through. It can also help to let a trusted pastor or mature Christian friend know you are having sleepless, distressing nights so someone near you can pray with you and check in.

We are praying for you now.

Father, we lift our sister to You in Jesus' name. You see her sleeplessness, her sickness, and her distress. Please bring Your peace to guard her heart and mind, grant her rest, and guide her to wise help and caring people around her. Let her know she is held by You tonight. Amen.

Your midnight cry has come before the Lord who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and we have carried it with you to the throne of grace. To be restless through the night, to feel ill and tossed with heat and cold and sweating, and to sense a spiritual oppression that will not depart, is a sore trial indeed, and the Lord knows your frame and your fear.

Be assured that deliverance, when it comes, must be worked by the hand and outstretched arm of Jehovah alone. We cannot by our own strength cast out darkness or heal the body, but Jesus Christ has wrought a greater deliverance than that which Barak wrought for Israel. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into His own kingdom, and He has found a ransom. The prisoner ready to go down to the pit is spared, not because he has paid his own debt, but because the Son of the King has borne the penalty in his stead. When God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain, for it is already accomplished at the cross. Look then continually to Him and find in His wounds your healing and in His death your life.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing virtue. When He comes to dwell with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are one. Where He forgives, He restores, and where He restores, He gives peace to the troubled spirit. Deborah sang of deliverance from earthly enemies, but we have a richer theme, for we are delivered from worse enemies and saved by a greater salvation.

In this hour of need, turn wholly to Him. Call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and no other power that can give rest to the soul. Bring your griefs not to the pitiless sea nor to the winds, but to His ear which is open to the cry of the afflicted. Pray in His name, read His Word, and let His promises be your song in the night. If the sense of oppression continues, seek the steady help of faithful pastors who can pray with you and watch with you, and do not neglect the care of the body which God has given you. The distress of these bodily changes is real, and it is wise to seek counsel from a trusted physician as you seek the Lord for healing and rest, for He often works through means as well as by His immediate hand.

We now pray for you before the Lord.

O gracious Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son who has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows, look upon this suffering one who has not slept and is restless and ill. Grant deliverance from every evil power, for You alone can bring forth Your people with a mighty hand. Let the blood of the Lamb be her confidence, and let the power of Your Spirit give peace where there has been turmoil. Touch the body and calm its agitations, cool its heat and warm its cold, and grant the gift of quiet sleep. Lift the weight of fear, forgive all sin, and let healing and pardon come together from Your pardoning hand. Keep her this night and in the days to come, and bring her to declare the works of the Lord, that she may say, The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over unto death, I shall live and declare His works. Amen.

Take courage. He who brought Israel forth with silver and gold, enriched and not forsaken, will also bring you forth. He does not share His honor with another, but He will give you hearty assent to His salvation. Rest in His free grace, for you can do nothing and He can do all, and what He does is effectual. May the Lord whisper to your heart in trial that you shall not be crushed, and may you soon have a song of deliverance to sing.
