Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your burden so honestly. Hearing that your husband has told you he is doing something sinful and is justifying it would overwhelm anyone, and it is right that you are taking this to the Lord in prayer.

I want to pray for you and for your marriage. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that a wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. That bond is not to be broken lightly. Even when there is deep pain or sin, the call is not to depart quickly, but if a separation does happen for a time, to remain unmarried and seek reconciliation. This shows how seriously God takes the marriage covenant, and how much He desires healing and restoration rather than division.

It is also good that you see his actions clearly as sin and do not try to call it good. Love does not celebrate what is wrong or ask God to bless what He calls sin. True love prays for repentance and restoration, and wants the person to be freed from sin. God can bring conviction where our words cannot reach, especially when a heart is justifying itself and will not listen.

When a husband will not be reached by direct argument, Scripture points to another way. Gentleness, meekness and quiet propriety often win more than sharp words or constant contention. This does not mean you approve of what he is doing, and it does not mean you stay silent about truth. It means you continue to speak truth with calm grace, you keep doing what is right before the Lord, and you entrust his conscience to God. Continue to pray for him daily by name, that God would open his eyes to see his sin as God sees it, grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and give him a desire for help.

Please do not carry this alone. Seek wise, faithful help in your local church, a pastor or a mature believing woman who holds to Scripture, who can walk with you, pray with you, and help you discern next steps with wisdom and safety. Stay faithful in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship.

Let me pray for you now.

Father in heaven, I lift up this dear sister who is feeling down and overwhelmed. Comfort her heart and give her strength and peace that comes from You. Guard her from despair and help her to cast all her care on You, for You care for her. Work in her husband's heart, convict him of his sin, remove his justifications, and lead him to true repentance through Jesus Christ. Restore what is broken, protect this marriage covenant, and help both husband and wife to honor You with their bodies and their lives. Give her wisdom to know how to speak and when to be quiet, and to show gentleness and grace without compromising truth. Surround her with godly counsel and support. May Your will be done in this home, and may You be glorified in bringing healing. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We will continue to pray for you. Keep seeking the Lord and keep leaning on His church.

Your honesty in sharing this heavy burden is heard, and I am praying for you in this overwhelming season. It is painful when someone you love is doing what God calls sin and then justifies it, so that every attempt to talk feels closed off. God sees your sorrow and your desire to do what is right before Him.

Scripture teaches that God's law shows us what sin is. Without that standard we might not recognize it, but once God has spoken, we know. A person may try to explain away or justify an action, yet that does not change what it is before God. Sin always brings separation from God, and its wages is death. It alienates us from the fellowship for which we were created. In the past, sacrifices could only cover sin, but they could not remove it. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can put sin away completely, because God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might be made righteous through Him.

There is hope in that truth for your husband, even when he is resisting. The same grace that forgives also gives power to be free. For those who are under grace, sin does not have to have dominion. We do not have to be ruled by the flesh. The Holy Spirit convicts the heart of sin and of the need to believe in Jesus, and Jesus came to condemn sin in the flesh and to break its tyranny. Your husband needs that work of God in his heart, the kind of help that only Christ can give, not merely an excuse or a covering, but a cleansing and a new life where he no longer practices sin as a way of life.

In your place as a wife, the most powerful influence is often not pushing harder with words when his heart is hardened, because pressing when he is resisting can push him further away. Scripture points a believing wife with an unbelieving husband toward a quiet, steady life of love and reverence for the Lord, so that he may be won without a word by seeing her faithful walk. Marriage is a lifelong covenant, and a wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. God calls a wife to be subject to her own husband as unto the Lord, and a husband to love his wife as Christ loved the church and to honor her and care for her. That does not mean a husband is to lord over his wife, for he himself is to be subject to Christ, and it does not mean you approve of sin. It means you continue to walk faithfully within the marriage, not withholding what belongs to marriage and not seeking to leave, but keeping a holy presence in the home. God says an unbelieving husband is sanctified by a believing wife in the sense that your faith brings a holy influence into the home and covers your children.

Yield yourself to God in this trial. Offer your body and your life to Him for righteousness, rather than being consumed by fear or bitterness. Stay close to Him in prayer, bring your husband before the Lord daily, and ask God to open his eyes to see his sin as God sees it and to turn to Christ for forgiveness and freedom. When there is a moment he will listen, speak the truth in love plainly, that what he is doing is sin before God and that Jesus alone can take it away and give him victory. Seek wise, biblical counsel from a mature pastor or godly older woman who holds to Scripture, so you are not carrying this alone.

I pray for you now, that God will guard your heart with peace, give you strength to live a godly and gentle life before your husband, and keep you from being ruled by discouragement. I pray for your husband, that God will remove his justifications, show him the true nature of his sin, bring him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and set him free from the dominion of sin so that he walks in newness of life. I pray that your marriage will be strengthened as each of you follows God's one simple call, that you submit as unto the Lord and he loves as Christ loves, and that your home will know the healing that comes only through the cross.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer and we have continued to lift you up before the Lord these past days.

We have been praying for you in this heavy and overwhelming season and for your husband as well. We have asked God to give you His peace and strength as you feel down and burdened, and to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We have also prayed for your husband, that the Lord would bring conviction where he is justifying what is sinful, that his heart would be softened to hear truth, that he would recognize his need for help and turn from sin and seek restoration. We have prayed that God would open a door for honest and loving communication between you and that He would give you wisdom and words when you are not able to reach him. We remember the promise in 1 Peter 5:7 that we can cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us, and in Gal 6:1 that those caught in sin may be restored in gentleness.

We continue to stand with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know how God has worked. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
