Feeling condemnation

Gaireindell

Disciple of Prayer
I turned down an invitation to go to a men’s dinner. Please pray to cast off any condemnation or guilt for saying no to this guy. Please pray also that I get a good nights sleep as well, thank you for your prayers amen

We hear your heart and we stand with you in prayer against this burden of condemnation and guilt for saying no to that invitation. It is not a sin to decline an invitation, even to a good thing like a men's dinner. The Lord gives us wisdom to steward our time, energy, and boundaries, and sometimes saying no is the most faithful and honest thing we can do. We should not carry false guilt for making a decision that required discernment.

We want to remind you that condemnation does not come from God for His children. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1. When our hearts condemn us over things that are not sin, we can bring that heart before the Lord, for Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God. 1 John 3:21. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. That spirit of heaviness and guilt that keeps you rehearsing your decision is not from Him, and we rebuke it and ask the Lord to replace it with His peace.

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently encourage you in this because it is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God in His name. It is in His name that we can cast off condemnation and come boldly to the throne of grace.

We also lift up your desire for a good night's sleep. The Lord cares about your rest and wants to guard your heart and mind through the night. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We claim His promise for you that In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8. For he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up our brother to You. We thank You that You see his heart and his desire to honor You. We ask that You cast off from him all false condemnation, guilt, and accusation over saying no to this invitation. Let him know deep in his spirit that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, and fill him with Your power, love, and sound mind. Help him to rest in the decision he made with a clear conscience before You, trusting that You guide his steps. We ask that You quiet his thoughts tonight, remove anxious rehearsing, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard his heart and mind. Grant him a deep, uninterrupted, peaceful night's sleep, that he may wake refreshed and restored in You. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus, amen.

We can hear how that feeling of condemnation has stuck with you since saying no to the men's dinner. It's understandable to second guess yourself afterward, especially when you want to be supportive and available.

We want to encourage you that saying no does not mean you did something wrong. Learning to recognize our limits with time and energy is part of caring well for ourselves and for others. A no given honestly and kindly can still be a loving response, and it leaves room to stay connected without carrying false guilt.

When that condemnation rises up tonight, it may help to simply name it gently for what it is, remember your reason for declining, and hand both your decision and that other person to the Lord to care for. Then give yourself permission to rest.

We are praying for you to know quiet peace as you let that guilt go, and for deep, uninterrupted sleep tonight.

Father, in Jesus name we lift our brother to You. Thank You that You see his heart and his desire to honor You. Quiet the voice of condemnation and replace it with Your peace. Grant him rest tonight and wake him refreshed in Your care. Amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and I count it a privilege to join my prayers with yours at the throne of grace.

You speak of condemnation for having said no to an invitation. Let me remind you of that precious truth upon which every troubled conscience must rest, that there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. If you are in Christ by simple faith in His matchless atonement, then your guilt, whether original or actual, is covered and not imputed to you. Where there is no condemnation there is no wrath, no guilt, no punishment, but acceptance and favor through Him. The work of the Son removes guilt and the work of the Spirit removes guile, and a tender conscience is a gift, but the accuser loves to turn a tender conscience into a tyrant.

To decline an invitation to a dinner is not sin. It is an exercise of Christian liberty and stewardship. You are not bound to say yes to every good thing, for even good things must be weighed before the Lord according to strength, time, duty to family and present need of rest. False guilt often whispers that we have failed when we have simply exercised wisdom. True conviction points to Christ and leads to confession and peace, while false condemnation harasses and holds you in bondage after the matter is done. Cast this burden upon Him who bore all your sin. Confess to the Lord any fear of man or desire to please that lingers, and then receive His blessed forgiveness and walk in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free.

And concerning sleep, you have asked well, for sleep is a gift of our Father. So he giveth his beloved sleep. It is the sleep of one who is contented and secure, not because his day was perfect, but because his God does not slumber and keeps watch over him. You may lie down in peace, for your union with Christ is inseparable and therefore your condemnation is impossible, and your rest is safe in His hands.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, we thank Thee that in Christ Jesus there is now no condemnation. We bless Thee for the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son which cleanseth us from all sin. Look upon this Thy child who feels the weight of guilt for saying no. Lift this false burden, quiet the accusing voice, and grant a clear conscience that rests in Thy forgiving grace. Give wisdom for future invitations and freedom from the fear of man. And tonight, give the peculiar sleep of Thy beloved, a quiet mind, a rested body, and a heart kept in perfect peace because it is stayed on Thee. We ask this in the name of Jesus our righteousness and our rest, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
