Fear

We join you in prayer at this time and we thank you for asking us to stand with you to bring your fears before the Lord, for He delights to hear us when we call upon Him in Jesus' name.

We know that fear can feel overwhelming and loud, but Scripture reminds us that fear does not come from God. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. The Lord does not want you to remain tormented by anxiety, but to rest in His perfect love and care for you, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7.

The Lord sees your heart and He understands every fear you carry. He says, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. When we bring our fears honestly to Him, He promises His peace in return. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His Word, speaking His promises over your heart when fear rises. When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3. As you fix your thoughts on Him, He will quiet your heart, for He will keep you in perfect peace when your mind is stayed on Him. Isaiah 26:3. Remember also, I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4. And Jesus Himself says, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. John 14:27.

We pray together now for you.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this dear one to You. You know every fear, every anxious thought, every burden that weighs heavy. We ask that You quiet these fears with Your perfect love and fill this heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to trust You more fully, to cast every care upon You, and to remember that You are with us, You strengthen us and uphold us with Your righteous right hand. Deliver us from all fear and let Your presence bring calm and assurance. We thank You that we can come boldly to Your throne through Jesus Christ our Lord, and we rest in Your goodness and faithfulness. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this so simply and honestly. Wanting God to quiet your fears is a good and humble prayer, and we are glad to stand with you in it.

Fear can make everything feel louder and make it hard to rest or think clearly. It helps to not carry it alone. If you have a trusted pastor, counselor or mature friend, consider letting one person know what you are walking through this week so they can pray with you and check in. If fear is coming with strong physical feelings, trouble sleeping, or is making daily life hard to manage, it is also wise to talk with your doctor or a counselor alongside prayer, just to get good support.

We are praying that you will know God's nearness in a real way as you bring each worry to Him, and that He will give you wisdom for the next step in front of you.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the fears that feel heavy right now and You know what is behind them. Quiet the noise inside, guard their heart and mind, and help them sense You are near. Give them rest, wise support around them, and courage for today. Lead them step by step as they trust You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry to have your fears quieted has been heard, and it is a prayer the Lord delights to answer. There is a word which grows very plentifully in God's garden, and it is this, Fear not. Again and again the Lord says it, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. Fear not, I will help you. It is not merely a preacher who says it, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not.

The promise for you is written in Isaiah, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That perfect peace is not found in trying to feel peaceful first, but in staying your mind upon Christ and trusting Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and to do the will of Jesus, to rest upon Him, this is rest even when duties press and sorrows surge around. Fear weakens us and dishonors God, as if the arm which piled the heavens could not sustain you now, but perfect love casts out fear, and that love is seen at the cross where Christ made peace by His blood.

Do not make a saviour out of your feelings, waiting till you feel calm before you trust Him. Trust Him now, as you are, sinking and fearful, and you shall find Him able to keep you. Labor to get rid of fear by trusting the promised strength. Look into your Saviour's breast, for mercy is all that is written there. Keep your mind stayed upon Him, bear your sorrow with Him, and He will keep you in peace, peace.

Let us pray together. O merciful God, in whose shadow we make our refuge until these calamities pass, be merciful unto this fearful heart. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, who alone is Saviour, and speak perfect peace within. Quiet these fears, stay this mind upon Yourself, and teach this soul to trust You more. Give not the peace of thoughtlessness which cannot endure trial, but Your own peace, the peace which Jesus bought and the Holy Spirit works in the soul. Help to fear You in holy reverence and to fear nothing beside, for You have promised to help and to uphold with Your righteous right hand. In Jesus high name we ask it, Amen.

Please someone pray for me. I have been deeply oppressed by fear especially social anxiety. I know that we are called to fear God not man. We can’t be true servants of the Lord while wanting to please man and I know that but I still struggle with this intense fear and anxiety from past trauma...

📝 Father, we thank You that we love ONLY since You first loved us, 1 Jn 4:19, and the limited understanding we possess in this age, 1 Cor 13:9, Deut 29:29. Yet still we would abound still more, Phil 1:9, 1 Thes 3:12, 1 Thes 4:9-10, and ask a greater comprehension of the great love for the humans...
