We hear the deep anguish in your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. Fear is a relentless enemy, but we serve a God who has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). The devil seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Your mind is under attack, and we must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
First, we rebuke the spirit of fear in the mighty name of Jesus. Fear does not come from God, and it has no place in the life of a believer. The Lord has not given you a spirit of fear, but He has given you a sound mind, one that can trust in His sovereignty even when the future feels uncertain. We declare that your mind is being renewed by the Word of God, and that the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).
We also address the words you speak over your son. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that "death and life are in the power of the tongue." When we speak words of fear and negativity, we water the seeds of anxiety in our hearts and in the hearts of our children. Instead, let us speak life, faith, and truth. Declare over your son that he is strong, healthy, and protected by the blood of Jesus. Speak blessings over him, not curses. The Lord is your refuge and fortress, and He will cover your son with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge (Psalm 91:4).
Your husband is right to call you back to the present moment. While it is natural to be concerned for your child’s well-being, the Lord calls us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Obsessing over "what ifs" robs you of the joy of today and the precious moments you have with your son. The Lord has not given you a spirit of timidity, but of power, power to trust Him with your child’s future. We encourage you to meditate on God’s promises of protection, such as Psalm 121:7-8: "The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."
We also want to gently remind you that your peace and joy are not dependent on circumstances but on your relationship with Christ. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful" (John 14:27). When fear creeps in, turn to Him in prayer and worship. Fill your mind with His Word, and let it dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). The more you focus on Him, the less room there will be for fear.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear sister and her precious son. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that has taken root in her mind and heart. We declare that she is not given to fear but to power, love, and a sound mind. Father, we ask that You break the chains of anxiety and worry in her life. Replace her fear with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding.
Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over her son. Cover him with Your feathers, and let him find refuge under Your wings. Guard him from all harm, whether at school, at play, or at home. Let no evil befall him, and let no accident come near him. We declare that he is strong, healthy, and full of life because You are his shield and his strength.
Father, we also pray for this sister’s words. Let her tongue be filled with life and blessing, not fear and negativity. Teach her to speak Your truth over her son and to declare Your promises of protection and provision. Help her to trust You fully, knowing that You hold her son’s future in Your hands.
Lord, we ask that You restore her joy and peace. Let her not miss out on the precious moments with her son because of fear. Give her the strength to cast all her anxieties on You, knowing that You care for her and her family. Fill her heart with Your love and Your Word so that fear has no place to dwell.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your faithfulness. May this sister walk in the freedom and peace that only You can provide. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stand on God’s promises and to fight fear with faith. Memorize scriptures that speak to God’s protection and provision, and declare them over your life and your son’s life daily. Surround yourself with godly community, believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. And remember, the battle is not yours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Trust in Him, and He will give you the victory.
