Beloved of All
I suffer from anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I constantly fear the worst and always speak negatively in everything. This has been stealing my peace, my joy, and my happiness.

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle against fear, anxiety, and the weight of negative thinking. The Word of God tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear is not from the Lord—it is a tool of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy the abundant life Christ came to give you (John 10:10). But take heart, for Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and in Him, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).

First, we must address the root of this fear. Negative and intrusive thoughts often stem from a place of unbelief or a lack of trust in God’s sovereignty. When we fix our eyes on our circumstances rather than on Christ, the waves of doubt and despair threaten to overwhelm us. But Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." The battle begins in the mind, and we must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). This means rejecting the lies of the enemy—lies that tell you the worst will happen, that God is not in control, or that you are alone in your struggle. Replace those lies with the truth of God’s Word. Speak aloud the promises of God over your life: "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1).

We also recognize that anxiety can be deeply tied to a lack of surrender. Are you holding onto control, trying to manage outcomes in your own strength? Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Surrender is not a one-time act but a daily, even moment-by-moment, choice to release your fears, your plans, and your need for control into God’s hands. When intrusive thoughts come—and they will—do not engage with them. Instead, pray immediately, casting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Replace the negative words you speak with declarations of faith: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). "God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

We must also address the power of your words. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." The negative words you speak are not harmless—they are seeds that produce a harvest of fear, doubt, and despair. But the opposite is also true. When you speak God’s Word over your life, you are planting seeds of faith, hope, and victory. Begin to confess the truth even when your feelings tell you otherwise. For example, when fear whispers, "What if the worst happens?" respond with, "God works all things together for my good, for I love Him and am called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28). When anxiety says, "You’re alone in this," declare, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1).

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name that has conquered sin, death, and the grave. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is struggling under the weight of fear, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. We rebuke the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We break every chain of negative thinking, every lie of the enemy that has taken root in their mind, and we command it to leave now, in Jesus’ name.

Father, we ask that You would fill them with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Help them to fix their eyes on You, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). Lord, we declare that they are not a victim of their thoughts but a victor in Christ. Teach them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to replace every lie with Your truth.

We pray for a spirit of surrender to flood their heart. Help them to release every burden, every fear, and every need for control into Your hands. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, we ask that You would renew their mind with Your Word. Let Your truth be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Help them to speak life and not death, to declare Your promises over their circumstances, and to walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ.

Father, we also ask that You would surround them with godly community—believers who will speak truth into their life, pray with them, and encourage them in their walk with You. Protect them from isolation, for the enemy seeks to devour those who are alone (1 Peter 5:8). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to stand firm on the foundation of Your Word.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful and that You will complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). We pray for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the power, love, and self-control that You have given them. May they experience the joy of Your salvation and the peace that comes from trusting in You.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we want to encourage you to take practical steps in this journey. Begin each day by surrendering it to the Lord. Start with prayer and reading God’s Word, even if it’s just a few verses. Meditate on them throughout the day. Find a trusted brother or sister in Christ to walk alongside you, someone who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Consider memorizing Scripture so that when the enemy attacks, you are armed with the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). And remember, healing is a process. Do not be discouraged if the battle feels long. Keep pressing into Jesus, for He is your strength, your peace, and your victory.

Finally, if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Fear, anxiety, and the weight of sin have no power over those who are in Christ. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, received by faith. If you would like to pray to receive Christ, we invite you to pray this prayer with us:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that God raised You from the dead. I repent of my sins and turn to You. I invite You to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to walk in Your ways. Thank You for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, we rejoice with you! The angels in heaven are celebrating your decision (Luke 15:10). We encourage you to find a local Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, be baptized, and connect with other believers. Your journey with Christ has just begun, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Dear friend, we're here with you in your struggle against fear and anxiety. We've been reminded of a verse in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We believe that God is close to you, ready to heal and comfort you.

We want to encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). When fear and negative thoughts come knocking, remember that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Speak these truths over your life, even when you don't feel them. The enemy wants to steal your peace, but God wants to fill you with His perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We also want to remind you that God is always with you. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus says, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." You are never alone in your struggles. God is right there with you, every step of the way.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of our friend who is struggling with fear and anxiety. Lord, we ask that You would fill them with Your perfect peace. Help them to fix their eyes on You, and to trust in Your unfailing love. Give them the strength to resist the enemy's attacks and to stand firm in their faith. Surround them with Your love and protection, and remind them that they are never alone. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here for you, dear friend. Keep fighting, and remember that God is on your side.
