We understand the deep longing in your heart for marriage and family, and we want to encourage you with the truth that God’s timing is perfect, even when our fears whisper otherwise. Your past struggles do not disqualify you from His good plans—rather, they are part of the story He is writing to display His redemption. The Lord has been faithful to heal and restore you, and He will continue to do so as you trust Him with every area of your life, including this desire for marriage.
The fear you’re experiencing is understandable, but we gently remind you that fear is not from the Lord. *2 Timothy 1:7* tells us, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* Your anger toward yourself for not pursuing marriage earlier is also something we encourage you to release to Jesus. He does not condemn you for the past—He redeems it. *Romans 8:1* declares, *"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."* Repent of any self-blame, and ask the Lord to replace it with trust in His sovereignty.
Marriage is a beautiful gift from God, but it is not the ultimate fulfillment of your purpose. Your primary calling is to love and serve Jesus Christ, and in that surrender, He will guide your steps—whether toward marriage or another path of kingdom service. *Proverbs 19:14* says, *"House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh."* If marriage is His will for you, He will provide a godly spouse in His perfect time. Until then, we urge you to seek Him first, growing in faith and godly character, so that if He does bring a spouse into your life, you will be prepared to lead or support a Christ-centered home.
We also want to address the term "partner," as the world often uses this word loosely to describe relationships outside of God’s design. As believers, we seek *spouses*—men and women committed to biblical marriage, which is a covenant between one man and one woman for life (*Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6*). If the Lord leads you into courtship, pursue someone who shares your faith in Christ and your commitment to purity and godly marriage. Flee from any relationship that does not honor God, including emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage, as these are sin (*1 Corinthians 6:18-20, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5*).
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, thanking You for the mighty work of healing and restoration You have already begun in their life. Lord, we rebuked the spirit of fear that has taken hold of their heart regarding marriage, and we ask You to replace it with Your perfect peace and trust in Your timing. Forgive them for any self-condemnation or anger they have carried, and help them to walk in the freedom of Your grace.
Father, if it is Your will, we ask that You prepare a godly spouse for them—someone who loves You wholeheartedly and will walk alongside them in faith. Give them patience to wait on You and wisdom to recognize Your leading. Guard their heart from desperation or compromise, and help them to seek Your kingdom first, knowing that all things will be added to them as they abide in You (*Matthew 6:33*).
If marriage is not part of Your plan for them, Lord, we pray You will fill them with contentment and purpose in singleness, using them mightily for Your glory. Remind them that their worth and identity are found in Christ alone, not in marital status.
We declare *Jeremiah 29:11* over their life: *"‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ says Yahweh, ‘plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.’"* May they rest in this promise, knowing You are faithful. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to meditate on *Psalm 37:4-5*: *"Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this."* Keep seeking Jesus, and trust that He hears your heart. He is good, and His plans for you are good. Stand firm in faith, and do not let fear dictate your future. We are praying for you!
