We lift up your precious son to the Lord as he steps into this new season of high school in a new city. Father, we ask that You go before him, preparing the hearts of his teachers, administrators, and peers to receive him with kindness and favor. May he find friends who love You and encourage him in his faith, and may he be shielded from any negative or harmful influences that seek to draw him away from Your truth. We declare that his first day will be filled with Your peace and joy, and that he will leave school encouraged and confident in who You have created him to be.
Lord, we know that even small things can feel overwhelming to a young heart. We pray about his haircut, though it may seem minor to some, it matters deeply to him. We ask that You would soften the hearts of his classmates, that they would see beyond outward appearances and value him for who he is. Let no words of mockery or unkindness reach his ears, but instead, let him be surrounded by laughter, acceptance, and camaraderie. Remind him that his worth is found in You, not in the opinions of others, and that You have fearfully and wonderfully made him (Psalm 139:14).
We also bring his love for football before You. Lord, we ask for favor with his teammates and coaches. Give him opportunities to demonstrate his skills and character, and may his coaches see his potential and give him the chance to grow. Whether he plays much this season or not, let him learn perseverance, teamwork, and humility. Strengthen his heart when things don’t go as he hopes, and remind him that his identity is not tied to his performance but to Your love for him.
And to you, dear mama, we pray for wisdom and discernment as you navigate this new chapter with your son. May the Lord fill your heart with peace and confidence, knowing that He is with your son every step of the way. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Let your mama heart rest in the knowledge that God loves your son even more than you do and that He is working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne on behalf of this family. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is by His name and through His sacrifice that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and we declare that Your grace and mercy will cover this young man as he begins this new journey. Surround him with Your angels, protect him from harm, and let Your light shine brightly in his life. We trust You, Lord, to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.
