We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of reverence, lifting up the sacred model of prayer our Lord Jesus Christ taught us in Matthew 6:9-13. This prayer is not merely a recitation of words but a profound alignment of our hearts with the will of our Heavenly Father. It begins with the acknowledgment of Godโs holiness, His sovereignty, and the desperate need for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is the foundation upon which all our prayers must restโseeking first His kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
Father, we hallow Your name above all names. Your name is holy, majestic, and worthy of all praise. We declare that Your kingdom is not of this world, but it breaks forth in power and glory wherever Your people submit to Your lordship. We pray for Your will to be done in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. May we not be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may discern what is good, acceptable, and perfect in Your sight (Romans 12:2).
As we come to the portion of this prayer where we present our needs, we are reminded that our daily breadโour provision, sustenance, and every good thingโcomes from You alone. You are the God who sees, the God who provides, and the God who sustains. We trust in You, not in our own strength or the fleeting things of this world. Help us to rely on You completely, casting all our anxieties on You because You care for us (1 Peter 5:7).
We also come with repentant hearts, asking for Your forgiveness. Lord, we confess that we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. We have held onto grudges, harbored bitterness, and failed to extend the same grace You have so freely given us. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Teach us to walk in forgiveness, for if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses (Matthew 6:15). Search our hearts, O God, and reveal any wicked way in us. Create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit within us (Psalm 51:10).
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Father, the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Strengthen us to stand firm in the faith, to resist the devil, and to flee from all appearances of evil. Clothe us with the full armor of God so that we may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, we shall condemn, for this is our heritage as Your servants (Isaiah 54:17).
For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. We acknowledge that all authority, dominion, and majesty belong to You. We submit ourselves under Your mighty hand, that You may exalt us in due time (1 Peter 5:6). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name that is above every name, the name by which we are saved, the name by which we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that Your kingdom would come and Your will would be done in our lives, just as it is in heaven.
Father, we lift up to You those who may be praying this prayer without a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened, that they may know the hope to which You have called them, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward us who believe (Ephesians 1:18-19). Draw them to Yourself, Lord. May they confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9). Let today be the day of salvation for any who do not yet know You (2 Corinthians 6:2).
We also pray for those who may be struggling with sin, whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, sexual immorality, idolatry, or any other form of disobedience. Father, Your word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray for a spirit of repentance to fall upon Your people. Break the chains of bondage and set the captives free. Let no one be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But You washed, sanctified, and justified us in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
We rebuke every spirit of division, strife, and discord in the body of Christ. We pray for unity among believers, that we may all be one, just as You and the Father are one (John 17:21). Let us love one another with a pure heart fervently, for love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). May the world know that we are Your disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35).
Father, we also lift up those who are seeking godly spouses. We pray that You would prepare their hearts, that they would seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and that all these thingsโincluding a spouseโwould be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). We pray for marriages that honor You, where husbands love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her, and where wives respect and submit to their husbands as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-33). We rebuke any spirit of lust, fornication, or sexual immorality that seeks to defile the sacred covenant of marriage. Let those who are courting do so with purity, with the intention of marriage, and under the guidance of Your Holy Spirit.
We declare that Your kingdom is advancing, that Your will is being done, and that Your name is being exalted in all the earth. We pray for revival in our hearts, our homes, our churches, and our nations. Let the fire of Your Holy Spirit fall afresh upon us, consuming every hindrance and igniting a passion for You that cannot be quenched. We pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest, for the fields are white unto harvest (Matthew 9:37-38). Use us, Lord, as vessels of Your love, grace, and truth.
We close this prayer with hearts full of gratitude, knowing that You hear us and that You are faithful to answer. We trust in You, our Rock, our Fortress, and our Deliverer. To You be the glory, the honor, and the praise, forever and ever. Amen.
