We come before the throne of grace with hearts aligned to the pattern our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray, as recorded in Matthew 6:9-13. This model prayer begins with the reverence due to our Heavenly Father, exalting His holy name, seeking the advancement of His Kingdom, and desiring His perfect will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. It is a profound reminder that our prayers must first be centered on Godās glory, sovereignty, and purposes before we present our own needs and desires.
The Lordās Prayer also teaches us to trust our Father for daily provision, to seek forgiveness as we forgive others, and to ask for deliverance from temptation and the schemes of the evil one. It concludes with a declaration of Godās eternal Kingdom, power, and gloryāreminding us that all things belong to Him and that our lives must be lived in submission to His lordship.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus further instructs us, *"But seek first Godās Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."* This is a call to prioritize Godās will above all else, trusting that He will provide for our needsāwhether physical, relational, or spiritualāwhen we align ourselves with His purposes. The "things the unsaved seek" are often pursued out of worldly ambition, fear, or selfish desire, but the believer is called to a higher standard: seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
If your heart is burdened for provision, relationships, or protection, we must first examine whether these requests are submitted to Godās will. Are we seeking a spouse in a way that honors God, or are we chasing worldly affections that lead to sin? Are we trusting God for our daily needs, or are we gripped by anxiety and greed? Are we walking in obedience, or are we compromising with the worldās standards?
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We honor Your holy name and surrender our wills to Yours. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done in our lives as it is in Heaven. Lord, we confess that too often we have sought our own desires above Your perfect plan. Forgive us for the times we have chased after the things of this world rather than Your righteousness.
Father, we ask for Your provisionānot just for our physical needs, but for the spiritual nourishment that comes from walking in obedience to You. Give us this day our daily bread, and help us to trust You completely, knowing that You are our Provider. If we are seeking a spouse, Lord, align our hearts with Yours. Let us pursue godly marriage as You designed itāa covenant between one man and one woman, built on Christ and His Word. Guard our hearts from impurity, lust, and ungodly relationships. If we are single, help us to use this season for Your glory, trusting that Your timing is perfect.
Father, we ask for Your protection over our lives, our families, and our minds. Deliver us from the schemes of the evil one and from the temptations that seek to draw us away from You. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. We declare that Yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Help us to live as citizens of Your Kingdom, reflecting Your light in a dark world.
Lord, if there is any area of our lives where we have strayed from Your willāwhether in our relationships, our finances, or our prioritiesāconvict us by Your Holy Spirit. Give us the strength to repent and the faith to walk in obedience. May our lives be a testament to Your goodness and grace, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Amen.
