šŸ™ Jesus said, "Pray in this way: ā€˜Our Father in Heaven, Your Name be honored. Your Kingdom come. Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, forever, Amen.’" Matt 6:9-13. This prayer Jesus gave teaches us: 1) Actually ask God for His Glory as a prayer request -- It's like starting a prayer thread for God's Priority as taught by Jesus, 2) What Order to Ask (Keep Thinking "priority level" here) -- Before we ask for our earthly needs and concerns, ask Him for His Name to be known, His Kingdom to expand and ultimately arrive, and for His Will to be known and done in our lives, in our families, churches, nations, the world. To ask for these things not only like we pray for our needs, but to follow the order Jesus taught is to place God's Priorities Higher Than to our own needs. Hasn't He in fact done more for us than we have for Him already? Can we not want Him to gain honor more than our necessary food? This one realization alone would help God reign more powerfully in our lives and add faith in our prayers. If Christians worldwide did this it would cause an instant revival in the church. So the way He teaches us to pray is not different from His well known and often quoted axiom in Matt 6:33 -- "But seek first God's Kingdom and righteousness, then all these other things will be added to you" -- things, btw, unbelievers anxiously and unanimously pursue, Matt 6:32, which things, Your Father already knows you need -- could you see how hearing the same story again and again (when its so common from unbelievers) could get a little boring to God, since He knows already, and taught and warned against it? In a way, Jesus is saying, "Remember Who God is -- Your Holy Father -- ask Him that He'd be made known correctly, remember and pray for the spread of His Kingdom and all it stands for and it's ultimate arrival at My 2nd Coming, and ask that His will be known and done gladly, as the angels who gladly do His bidding, Ps 103:20, and as I obeyed My Father and Your Father until death on the cross because it was His will, Phil 2:8 -- fellowship with Us in prayer First ----> And then we can descend to the pressing needs that The Father and I already know you need -- We just want you to deal with Us in terms of who We are and in the reality of "This Relationship" first, or else human nature makes yourself the center of the universe and you merely pray for your own honor (more, bigger, better, new this, new that), your own kingdom and what you want on earth, and often in an anxious and frantic manner, as if We were not in control of the Heaven and Earth and without real 'faith and patience,' which are needed to inherit the promises -- Heb 6:12 -- so, show a little love and respect in your prayers. Pray like My Son already taught, please." Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We hear your heartfelt reflection on the Lord’s Prayer and the profound wisdom it holds for our approach to prayer. You’ve rightly emphasized the importance of aligning our petitions with God’s priorities—His name, His kingdom, and His will—before presenting our own needs. This is not merely a formula but a transformative way of relating to our Heavenly Father, one that shifts our focus from self to Him, from anxiety to trust, and from earthly concerns to eternal purposes.

Jesus’ instruction in Matthew 6:9-13 is indeed a blueprint for prayer that honors God’s holiness and sovereignty. When we begin with "Hallowed be Your name," we acknowledge His worthiness above all else. When we pray, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done," we surrender our agendas to His perfect plan, just as Christ Himself did in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39). This posture of humility and submission is the foundation of true faith, for it recognizes that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9) and that His glory is the ultimate aim of all things.

You also rightly connect this to Matthew 6:33, where Jesus commands us to "seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness," with the promise that all other necessities will be added unto us. This is a radical call to trust in the Father’s provision, just as He cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field (Matthew 6:26-28). How often do we, like the Gentiles, fret over what we will eat, drink, or wear, forgetting that our Heavenly Father already knows our needs? The world chases after these things in vain, but the believer is called to a higher pursuit—one that seeks God’s face before His hand.

Yet, we must also examine our hearts in this. Do we truly prioritize God’s kingdom in our prayers, or do we rush to our own requests, treating Him like a cosmic vending machine? The Lord’s Prayer is not a ritual to be recited mindlessly but a model to shape our hearts. When we pray for His name to be hallowed, we are asking that He be revered in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. When we pray for His kingdom to come, we are longing for the day when Christ will return and establish His righteous rule (Revelation 22:20). And when we pray for His will to be done, we are yielding our own desires to His perfect plan, even when it is costly.

This is not to say that our personal needs are unimportant to God. Far from it! The same Jesus who taught us to seek first the kingdom also invites us to ask for our daily bread, forgiveness, and deliverance from evil. But these requests come *after* we have aligned ourselves with His purposes. This order reflects the truth that our greatest need is not physical provision but spiritual alignment with God. When we seek Him first, He promises to provide the rest—not because we deserve it, but because He is a good Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11).

Let us also consider the warning in your reflection: that God may grow weary of prayers that focus solely on our own desires, mirroring the anxieties of the unsaved. This is a sobering thought. The psalmist declares, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). When our delight is in Him, our desires begin to align with His, and our prayers become less about demanding our will and more about discerning His.

So, how do we put this into practice? We begin by cultivating a heart of worship. Before we bring our requests, we adore Him for who He is—holy, sovereign, and good. We confess our sins, knowing that unconfessed sin hinders our prayers (Psalm 66:18). We thank Him for His past faithfulness, which builds our trust for the future. And then, with hearts surrendered, we present our petitions, trusting that He hears and answers according to His perfect will.

Let us pray together now, embracing the model Christ gave us:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of reverence and awe. Your name is holy, and we ask that it be hallowed in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. Let Your kingdom come, Lord Jesus—let Your rule and reign be established in every heart and every corner of this earth. May Your will be done in us and through us, just as it is in heaven. We surrender our plans, our desires, and our very lives to You, trusting that Your ways are perfect.

Father, we thank You that You know our needs even before we ask. Today, we ask for our daily bread—not just physical provision, but the bread of Your Word and the sustenance of Your Spirit. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for we know that the battle is Yours.

We acknowledge that without You, we can do nothing. Without Christ, we have no access to You, no hope of salvation, and no power to live righteously. We thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and rise again, that we might have eternal life. Help us to walk in the light of His truth, seeking first Your kingdom in all that we do.

Lord, we pray for revival in Your church. Let us not be like the world, chasing after temporary things, but let us be a people who hunger and thirst for righteousness. May our prayers reflect Your priorities, and may our lives bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

May we continue to grow in our understanding of prayer, not as a means to manipulate God into giving us what we want, but as a sacred conversation with our Father, who loves us and invites us to participate in His eternal purposes. Let us never forget that prayer is not about changing God’s mind but about aligning our hearts with His. As we do, we will find that our desires begin to reflect His, and our prayers become powerful instruments of His will on earth.

We're right there with you, friend. It's so encouraging to see how Jesus taught us to pray, isn't it? He didn't just give us a formula, but a way to connect with our Heavenly Father, a way that puts Him first and His will above our own. It's a beautiful thing to remember that God already knows our needs, and He's waiting for us to come to Him, not just with our lists of requests, but with hearts that want to know Him more and align with His purposes.

Let's keep praying like this, shall we? Let's start by saying together, "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name..."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
