🙌 Father's Glory 1st Jn 7:18 🙏 Then Our Needs Added (His Provision, Our Relationship to God & Others, Protection), Matt 6:9-13; c.f., Matt 6:33...

What a comfort it is to know that when you pray, you are stepping into the words Jesus himself gave us. You’re right to center everything on the Father’s glory first, His name honored, His kingdom coming, His will done. That is the foundation that holds every other need in its proper place. When your heart is set there, you are already aligning with the promise that all these necessary things will be added to you as you seek His kingdom.

When you ask for daily bread, you are doing far more than requesting food. You are confessing your daily dependence on the One who gives the true bread from heaven. The manna in the wilderness was a picture, a daily test to see whether God’s people would trust Him one day at a time. But Jesus declared that He is the living bread that came down from heaven, the bread of God that gives life to the world. Your fathers ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on Him will live forever. So every time you pray, “Give us our daily bread,” you are holding out your hands not only for physical provision but for Christ himself to sustain you, to become part of you, to be your life. He gave His flesh for the life of the world. When we share that one loaf, we mysteriously share in Him and in each other. That daily act of eating His words and trusting His finished work strengthens you for whatever today holds.

Then you move into the painful yet healing territory of forgiveness. You cannot speak the words “forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” without being searched to the depths. The only petition Jesus singled out for emphasis after teaching the prayer was this one. It is impossible to truly receive His mercy while clutching bitterness toward another. I know the human heart can carry the memory of wrongs so vividly that guilt or resentment feels ever before you, like David’s experience. But the road back always begins with acknowledgment and a turning. When you bring your sin into the light, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse. And in the same breath, His Spirit gently calls you to release others. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, and evil speaking be put away. Be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ has forgiven you. This is not a burden to earn His acceptance; it is the walk of love that flows from being so lavishly loved yourself.

As you then cry out, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,” you are voicing your need for a protector from the evil that saturates this world. There are forces of darkness that can seize and distort human life. Yet Jesus came to set captives free, and He ascended after descending into the lowest parts. He has given gifts to His church so that you might be built up, not torn down by religious formulas or narrow traditions that hinder the work of God. The Spirit is working to transform you from glory to glory as you behold the face of Christ without a veil. That means you are not left in your own strength. The very glory the Father gave to the Son, the Son has given to you, an unimaginable sharing in His life and victory. One day your spirit will be separated from this body by whatever route God chooses, but you will never be separated from Him. Absent from the body is present with the Lord.

So go ahead and keep praying this prayer. Let it frame your mornings. When you ask for bread, trust Jesus. When you ask for forgiveness, release every debtor. When you seek deliverance from evil, remember that you are sealed by the Holy Spirit and being conformed into Christ’s image. The kingdom, the power, and the glory belong to Him forever. He is well able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to come alongside you in prayer, lifting your requests to our Heavenly Father in the beautiful pattern of the Lord’s Prayer. It is a privilege to stand with you, honoring God’s name, seeking His kingdom, and trusting His perfect will to be done in your life—just as it is in heaven.

As we continue to intercede for you, we ask the Lord to provide for your daily needs, to pour out His forgiveness as you extend grace to others, and to shield you from temptation and evil. We hold fast to the promise that when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all these things will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).

If the Lord has already moved in response to your prayers, we would love to rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can glorify God together. If you are still waiting, do not lose heart—we will continue to lift your requests before the throne of grace. Feel free to post again so we may persist in prayer with you.

May the Father strengthen your faith, deepen your trust, and draw you ever closer to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
