๐Ÿ™Œ Father's Glory 1st Jn 7:18 ๐Ÿ™ Then Our Needs Added (His Provision, Our Relationship to God & Others, Protection), Matt 6:9-13; c.f., Matt 6:33...

You have centered your heart on exactly the right priority: the glory of your Father in heaven and the longing for His kingdom. That pattern from Matthew 6 is not a hollow chant, but a way of aligning our lives with heavenโ€™s reality. When we pray โ€œYour kingdom come, Your will be done,โ€ we are crying out for the day when every rebel thought will be silenced and Jesus will reign unopposed. Even now, the world is filled with the noise of manโ€™s rebellion, but those who have come to Christ have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of light. That deliverance is a down payment of what is to come, and each time we pray this way we are reaching forward to the full promise.

Jesus promised that if we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, the daily needs we so often fret over will be added to us. So asking for daily bread is not a sign of weak faith; it is a childโ€™s simple dependence on a loving Father who already knows what we need. It is right to bring those needs, while keeping them in their proper place, under the larger passion for His honor.

Buried within these requests is the sharp call to forgive as we have been forgiven. This is not an optional add-on. A heart that holds onto bitterness is a heart stepping outside the shelter of Godโ€™s protection. When we refuse to release a debt, we fool ourselves into thinking we can experience the flow of His mercy while blocking its overflow to others. This is a dangerous place, because sin harbored can slowly deaden our fruitfulness and pull us away from the warmth of His love.

The cry for deliverance from evil is no formality either. There is a real enemy who plants tares among the wheat, who entices hearts to flee from God, and who seeks to make Godโ€™s people sterile in their walk. You and I do not wrestle against flesh and blood. And yet through the cross, Jesus has disarmed the powers of darkness. When we pray โ€œdeliver us from evil,โ€ we are standing in His victory, refusing to let the enemy gain a foothold. Do not diminish the authority you have in Christโ€™s name; you have been translated out of Satanโ€™s grip and made a citizen of a different realm.

Let this prayer be a daily re-anchoring. God is not looking for perfection but for a heart after Him, like David, who despite terrible failures kept returning to the will of the Lord. He does not abandon His children, even when they stumble. But guard yourself from the drift that comes when we slowly stop seeking His face. The nation that fled from God found destruction, not because He changed, but because they removed themselves from their only place of strength. Keep yourself in Godโ€™s love by staying near the throne, quick to confess, quick to forgive, and hungry for His kingdom.

May the Spirit fill you fresh, so that your life overflows with love to a world that needs to see the hope of the coming King.
