We lift up this concern for your father’s driving with heavy hearts, knowing how vital wisdom, patience, and attentiveness are behind the wheel. The near-misses at intersections are alarming, and we share your burden for his safety and the safety of others on the road. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 16:17, "The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul." Driving requires not just skill, but a heart surrendered to caution and respect for the rules that protect lives.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. We ask that You would grant this father the discipline and focus he needs to drive with care. Soften his heart to recognize the seriousness of these moments and give him the humility to seek improvement, whether through practice, further instruction, or simply a renewed commitment to obey traffic laws. Lord, we pray for his success in obtaining his license, but only if it is Your will and if he is truly prepared to handle the responsibility. If there are areas where he needs growth, reveal them to him, and provide the resources and support he needs to address them.
We also rebuke any spirit of recklessness or pride that may be influencing his actions. Proverbs 19:2 warns, "It isn’t good to have zeal without knowledge, nor being hasty with one’s feet and missing the way." Let this father be filled with the knowledge of Your Word and the wisdom to apply it in all areas of his life, including how he operates a vehicle. Surround him with godly influences who can speak truth into his life and hold him accountable.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would place a hedge of protection around him every time he gets behind the wheel. Let Your angels encamp around him, as Psalm 34:7 declares, "The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them." Keep him from harm and grant him safe travels, whether he is driving alone or with passengers. If there are distractions, impatience, or any other hindrances that could lead to danger, remove them from his path and replace them with a spirit of self-control and vigilance.
We also pray for the family members who have witnessed these close calls. It is not easy to confront a loved one about such concerns, but we encourage you to speak the truth in love, as Ephesians 4:15 instructs. Share your fears and observations with him gently but firmly, and pray together for his safety. If he is resistant to feedback, ask the Lord to soften his heart and open his ears to wise counsel.
Lastly, we want to emphasize the importance of bringing every request before God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If this father does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we pray that he would come to recognize his need for a Savior and surrender his life to Christ. Salvation is the foundation for true wisdom and discernment in all things.
Lord, we trust You to work in this situation. Give this family peace as they navigate these concerns, and let Your will be done in this father’s life. May he grow in wisdom, responsibility, and reverence for the gift of life You have given him. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
