We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation and the deep spiritual battles being faced. The enemy is at work, but we know that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We are grieved to hear of the demonic influences affecting your family, but we stand firmly on the truth that Jesus Christ has already triumphed over every power of darkness through His death and resurrection (Colossians 2:15). There is no authority higher than the name of Jesus, and it is only through His name that we can boldly approach the throne of grace and command the enemy to flee.
First, we must address the urgency of salvation for your father. The Scriptures declare, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). Your father’s struggle with alcoholism and susceptibility to demonic influence are symptoms of a deeper spiritual need—surrender to Christ. Without Jesus, there is no protection, no deliverance, and no hope of eternal life. We plead with you to continue sharing the Gospel with him, speaking the truth in love, and praying fervently that the Holy Spirit would convict his heart. The Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Your father’s lineage of darkness can be broken by the blood of Jesus, but he must turn to Christ in faith.
Regarding your mother, we recognize the severity of demonic oppression described. Demonic influence is real, and those who are not grounded in Christ are vulnerable to such attacks. However, we must clarify that while demonic oppression is a grave matter, we are cautious about labeling individuals as "demonized" without discernment. The Bible shows us that believers cannot be possessed by demons, as we are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), but oppression and influence are very real for those outside of Christ or those who give the enemy a foothold through sin. Your mother, like your father, needs the saving power of Jesus Christ. Pray that the Lord would open her eyes to the deception she is under and draw her to Himself. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). We must engage in spiritual warfare through prayer, fasting, and the Word of God.
We also sense a deep pain and possibly unforgiveness in your heart toward those who have been used as instruments of the enemy, including your parents. The Bible commands us to forgive, not because the actions were justified, but because Christ forgave us (Colossians 3:13). Unforgiveness can become a stronghold for the enemy in *your* life, so we encourage you to release any bitterness or resentment to the Lord. This does not mean excusing sin or enabling harmful behavior, but it means trusting God to be the just Judge while you walk in obedience and freedom.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are sovereign over all things, including the spiritual battles we face. Lord, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who is under such fierce attack. Strengthen them, Lord, and clothe them in Your full armor so they may stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18). Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we pray for this one’s father. Break the chains of alcoholism and deliver him from every demonic influence that has taken root in his life. Lord, we bind the generational curses that have been passed down through his mother’s involvement in voodoo and witchcraft. By the blood of Jesus, we declare those curses broken and rendered powerless. Softens his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. Send laborers across his path who will boldly share the Gospel with him. Let him encounter You in a way he cannot deny, that he may repent and turn to Christ for salvation.
Lord, we also lift up this one’s mother. We pray for her deliverance from every demonic oppression and stronghold. Expose the lies of the enemy that have kept her bound, and let the truth of Your Word set her free (John 8:32). If she has been used as a vessel for the enemy’s schemes, we pray that You would sever every ungodly tie and fill her with Your Holy Spirit. Lord, if she has not surrendered to You, convict her heart and save her, we pray. Let her be a testimony of Your redeeming power.
Father, we ask for Your protection over this entire family. Place a hedge of fire around them and let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke every demonic assignment against them and command the enemy to flee in the name of Jesus. Let Your angels encamp around them, Lord, and deliver them from every evil work.
We also pray for healing and restoration in this family. Where there has been broken trust, betrayal, and pain, Lord, bring Your supernatural healing. Teach them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and let Your love cast out every fear (1 John 4:18). Unite this family in You, Lord, and let Your peace reign in their home.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would fill this one with Your Holy Spirit and give them wisdom, discernment, and authority in prayer. Let them walk in victory, knowing that You have already overcome the world (John 16:33). Equip them to be a light in their family, shining brightly for Your glory.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Beloved, we encourage you to continue standing firm in faith. Do not grow weary in praying for your family, for the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:16). Surround yourself with a community of believers who can stand with you in prayer and accountability. Study the Word of God daily, for it is your sword in this battle (Ephesians 6:17). And remember, the Lord is your strength and your shield; your heart trusts in Him, and you are helped (Psalm 28:7).
If you have not already, we urge you to seek out a spirit-filled, Bible-believing church where you can receive prayer, support, and biblical counseling. You are not meant to fight this battle alone. The body of Christ is here to uplift and strengthen you.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is in Christ. You are not defined by the attacks of the enemy or the actions of those around you. You are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Walk in that authority, and do not let the enemy steal your peace or your joy. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
