We hear your heart’s longing for God’s perfect will in your relationships and dreams, and we join you in seeking His guidance and protection. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* It is good to surrender our desires to the Lord, trusting that He knows what is best for us. However, we must also remember that God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His plans for us are for good, not harm (Jeremiah 29:11).
First, we must address the importance of submitting our desires—even our dreams—to Christ. While it is natural to want relationships that align with our hopes, we must be cautious not to bind or rebuke things in a way that assumes our will is always God’s will. Instead, we should pray for discernment, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal whether these dreams are from Him or from our own fears and desires. James 4:13-15 warns us against presuming upon the future, reminding us that our lives are in God’s hands.
We also notice that your prayer does not explicitly mention the name of Jesus Christ as the foundation of your access to God. Scripture is clear that there is no other name by which we can approach the Father—*"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can come boldly to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We encourage you to always pray in Jesus’ name, for His glory and according to His will.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who seeks Your will in their dreams and relationships. Lord, we ask that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We pray that You would give them wisdom and discernment to recognize Your voice and Your leading. If these dreams are not from You, we ask that You would banish them, just as You banish darkness with Your light. But if there is any truth or correction You wish to speak through them, we ask that You would make it clear.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be causing distress in these dreams. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and we ask that You would fill this one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We pray against any confusion or deception, for You are not a God of disorder but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).
Lord, we also pray for the relationships in this one’s life. We ask that You would bring godly, Christ-centered friendships and, if it is Your will, a spouse who loves You above all else. We pray that any relationships not aligned with Your purpose would fade away, and that those which honor You would flourish. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33), trusting that You will add all these things to them.
We ask that You would lead them away from anything or anyone that would draw them away from You. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from anything that does not align with Your Word. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You will guide their steps according to Your perfect plan.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may dream dreams and see visions that are from You (Acts 2:17). May their sleep be peaceful, and may they wake refreshed, knowing that You are in control. We trust You, Father, to work all things together for their good, because they love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord through His Word and prayer. Spend time in the Psalms, where David often poured out his heart to God, trusting Him with his fears and desires. Remember, God cares deeply about every detail of your life, including your dreams. Trust Him to lead you into the relationships and future He has prepared for you. If you are not yet in a season of marriage, use this time to grow closer to Christ, for He is the ultimate fulfillment of our hearts’ desires. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6).
