We lift up your father to the Lord, our Great Healer, and we stand with you in faith, trusting in God’s sovereignty and mercy during this difficult time. The Scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is the God who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3), and nothing is too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:27). Though this season is painful, we encourage you to cling to the promise that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
We also want to gently remind you that our prayers are only heard and answered because of the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through Him alone that we approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). If your father does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with him—that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Eternal life is found in repentance and faith in Him, and there is no greater comfort in suffering than knowing we belong to Christ.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved father who is battling illness and weakness. Lord, You are the God who formed him in his mother’s womb, and You know the number of his days. We ask for Your healing touch upon his body—remove the fluid from his lungs and heart, and bring restoration to every cell affected by cancer. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your power to heal, whether here on earth or by calling him home to be with You. Give the doctors wisdom and skill as they care for him, and let every treatment bring relief and renewal.
Father, we also pray for this family, who are walking through such a dark and uncertain time. Strengthen them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and surround them with Your love and the support of Your people. Comfort their hearts and remind them that You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
If this father does not yet know You, Lord, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself in these moments. Open his heart to receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as his Savior. Let him experience the hope that comes from knowing his sins are forgiven and that eternal life is found in You alone.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness, even when the path is difficult. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified through it all. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Lean on your church family for support, and trust that God is with you every step of the way. He is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and may His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
