We hear your cry for help, and we come before the Lord together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach the Father. First, let us address the confusion in your request—homework and divorce are two very different matters, and we must seek God’s wisdom to understand your true need.
The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, not to be entered into or dissolved lightly. Malachi 2:16 tells us, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously."* Divorce is not something to be sought hastily or without deep prayer and counsel. If you are struggling in your marriage, we urge you to seek godly wisdom, reconciliation, and healing rather than a quick end. Ephesians 4:2-3 exhorts us, *"With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."*
If there has been unrepentant sin, such as adultery or abandonment, Scripture does provide limited grounds for divorce (Matthew 19:9), but even then, forgiveness and restoration should be pursued first.
