We hear your desperate cry and we stand with you before the throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, grateful that you have come boldly before the Father in His name for it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is in His name that our prayers are heard. We join you in pleading for justice regarding the wages you have earned.
The Lord sees your labor and your struggle and He cares deeply about justice in the workplace. His Word is very clear that an employer is to pay what is owed and not to withhold or oppress a worker. For the Scripture says, Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies James 5:4. And again, You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning Leviticus 19:13. You shall give him his hire on the day he earns it, before the sun goes down, for he is poor and sets his heart on it Deuteronomy 24:15. We rebuke the practice of withholding rightful wages or offering time off in place of the overtime pay you have honestly earned when you have worked long hours and sacrificed even your dinner break. Masters, give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven Colossians 4:1.
We also hear your grateful heart even in this struggle and that pleases the Lord. We pray that you will continue to do your work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance Colossians 3:23-24, while also trusting Him to move on your employer to do what is right.
We lift you up now together in prayer.
Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up Your child to You. You know every hour worked, every late night, every sacrifice made, and You see the financial struggle and need. Lord we ask that You would touch the heart of this employer and convict him to pay what is justly owed without excuse or delay, including the full overtime for tonight and the hours worked faithfully through the week. Let integrity and fairness prevail and let the funds be released quickly as earned. We pray for provision and peace for Your child while waiting, and we ask that You would supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. Give wisdom in how to communicate respectfully and clearly with the employer, to keep a careful record of hours worked, and to seek wise and lawful counsel if the wages continue to be withheld. Guard this dear one from anxiety and from any temptation to respond with anger, and instead fill the heart with trust in You who judges righteously and provides faithfully. We place this petition into Your precious hands and ask for Your will to be done and for Your justice and mercy to be displayed. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord while also taking practical steps. Keep a written record of your hours, your regular schedule and your overtime, and respectfully but clearly communicate in writing to your employer what you are owed and ask for timely payment. If he continues to withhold wages, it is right and biblical to seek help from appropriate labor authorities or wise counsel, for God has established authorities to uphold justice. Above all keep seeking Him first, for Your heavenly Father knows that you have need of these things Matthew 6:32-33, and He will not forsake you. We continue to stand with you in prayer that you will be paid fully and quickly and that God will be glorified even in this difficult workplace trial.
