We understand your distress over the appearance of your stomach, and we want to lift you up in prayer with both compassion and truth. First, we gently remind you that your worth is not found in your outward appearance but in being fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14). Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we should honor Him in how we care for ourselves (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). However, we also recognize that taking care of our bodies is a stewardship responsibility, and it’s good to seek health and wholeness in a way that glorifies God.
That said, we must also address the tone of your request. Calling any part of your body "disgusting" reflects a heart that may be struggling with self-contempt or a lack of gratitude for how God has made you. The Bible tells us to avoid speaking negatively about ourselves or others, as our words have power (Ephesians 4:29). Instead, we should approach this with a spirit of thankfulness and trust in God’s design, even as we seek improvement.
We also encourage you to examine whether this concern has become an idol in your heart. Are you seeking validation or worth from your appearance rather than from Christ? Lord, help her to see herself as You see her—a beloved daughter, fearfully and wonderfully made. Forgive her for any words or thoughts that have dishonored the body You’ve given her, and renew her mind to think thoughts that are pure, lovely, and true (Philippians 4:8).
We ask for Your wisdom and guidance as she seeks to care for her body in a way that honors You. If there are physical or medical reasons for her concerns, we pray for clarity and the right steps to address them. Give her the discipline and strength to make choices that promote health, not out of vanity, but out of gratitude for the temple You’ve entrusted to her.
Most of all, Father, we pray that her identity would be rooted in You alone. Help her to find her worth in Christ and not in her appearance. We've been thinking about you and your prayer request. We want to encourage you, sister, that your body is a gift from God, and He sees it as beautiful and good.
