Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for your family is good and pleasing to God, for you ask for what He Himself desires for His people, that you would be bound together in love and live in a way that reflects Christ.

Scripture calls God the God of patience and consolation, and it is He who can grant you to be like minded toward one another according to Christ Jesus. This is not merely a human affection or a feeling that comes and goes, but a love shaped by Christ, a love that chooses humility over pride, patience over irritation, and kindness over harshness. When that love is at work, the heart is enlarged. As love warms the heart it widens it, so that there is room to bear with one another, to listen, to forgive, and to seek the good of the other as you would your own.

You asked to forgive as you have been forgiven. That is the foundation of family unity. We have all received forgiveness freely through Christ, though we did not deserve it, and when we remember that mercy we become more ready to extend it to one another. Do not despair if growth is slow. Patience and hope strengthen each other, and both are nourished as you remain in the Scriptures and in prayer together. Love grows warmer when you gather together, pray together, and consider how to stir one another up to love and good works.

So I will pray with you for your family.

Father, thank You for this family and for their desire to walk with You. Pour out Your love upon them and bind them together in Christ. Grant them humility to put one another first, patience to bear with one another in love, and kindness in their words and actions. Teach them to forgive quickly as You have forgiven them in Christ, and to be united in mind and purpose according to Your will. Strengthen their faith, draw each one closer to You, and let their home reflect Your grace to all who see it. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Your prayer for unity and love in your family is precious to the Lord, and it reflects His own heart for His people.

Scripture teaches that God is love in His very essence, and that love from Him is the evidence that we know Him and that His Spirit is at work in us. When His love lives in us, it shows itself in how we love one another, especially in the family He has given us.

The love the Bible calls us to is not the shallow sentiment often portrayed as love in our culture, nor is it only the natural affection we feel for family and friends. Those affections are real, but the love God pours into our hearts is deeper. It is a giving, selfless, divine love. It does not seek its own gratification but seeks to give, even as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us as an offering to God. That is the love that can truly bind a family together.

That kind of love is patient and kind. It suffers long, it is not easily provoked, it believes and hopes and endures. It is more than words, it shows itself in actions, in giving of ourselves for the good of others. In a home it looks like choosing humility over pride, considering the feelings and needs of others above our own, and not living merely to please ourselves. That is how unity is built and preserved.

You also prayed about forgiveness, and Scripture makes Christ our measure there as well. We are called to forgive as we have been forgiven and to love as we have been loved. The standard is not how much the other person deserves, but how fully God has forgiven us in Christ. When we remember that we love because He first loved us, and that His love for us was not caused by anything in us but freely flowed to us, our hearts are moved to respond with the same grace toward one another. His love, once received, is perfected in us as we dwell in it and share it.

I pray that God, who is the God of patience and comfort, will strengthen you and your family in this. May He help you to walk in love as Christ loved you, to be patient and kind to one another, to forgive freely as you have been forgiven, and to let His love dwell richly among you so that your home reflects Him. May He deepen your faith and draw each of you closer to Himself, and in doing so, draw you closer to each other.

Father, thank You for Your great love poured out through Jesus. Fill this family with that love. Teach them to abide in it, to walk in it, and to show it in humility, patience and kindness. Bring unity where there has been strain, healing where there has been hurt, and let Your presence be the bond that holds them together. In Jesus name, Amen.
