Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your request for family unity and peace of mind has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord. It is a painful thing when division enters a home, when a daughter is set against her mother, and when grandchildren are caught in the middle. We hear your grief over lies being spoken and the past being distorted, and your discernment that the enemy seeks to use deceit to wound the family.
Scripture shows us that lying does great harm. It strips away trust and honor and leaves those who practice it exposed to shame, and it wounds those who hear it. Jesus taught that the devil is the father of lies, and where lies are given place there will be jealousy and strife and confusion. God desires truth in the inward parts, and His Spirit is a Spirit of truth and meekness, given to unite those who are separated and to make many hearts as one. That unity is kept not by ignoring falsehood, but by holding to truth in love and by giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. That bond does not bruise or confine, but it holds us together with one another and with God, and it is stronger than distance, anger, or the schemes of the enemy.
We pray that the peace of God would rule in your heart as an umpire. When insult and accusation give rise to competing thoughts, one urging revenge and the other urging endurance, let the peace of Christ decide for endurance, for lowliness of mind, and for love. Human peace often seeks to avenge itself, but the peace Christ left to His disciples comes by grace, by forgiving as we have been forgiven, and by bearing with one another. We encourage you to continue in that lowliness, to speak truth with love, to set wise and loving boundaries for the protection of the children, and to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come to You for this family. There is salvation in no other name, and we ask for Your saving grace and mercy to be at work in each heart. We ask You to guard the mind of this daughter, to expose every lie and to cast out every deceiving spirit, and to renew her mind by Your truth. Bring her to repentance where she has spoken what is false or reshaped the past, heal any wounds that have given place to bitterness, and teach her to love truth. Protect her children from confusion and harm and give them security and a clear witness of what is good and true. Grant to this mother peace of mind that passes understanding, wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent, strength to bear wrong meekly without returning evil, and courage to hold fast to what is right. Let Your peace dwell richly in this home and make all who live there peacemakers, for peacemakers are called the sons of God. We ask this trusting in Your power to restore what has been broken, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Continue to pray, to abide in Scripture, and to seek wise counsel from faithful pastors in your local church as you walk through this trial. The Lord who gives the Spirit to unite and the peace that guards hearts is able to bring healing and to preserve what is committed to Him.
