Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer shows a deep love for your children and a desire to guard your home in the truth of Scripture, and that burden is not unseen by the Lord. The exhaustion and division you describe are real, and it is right to bring them honestly before God and to ask for His protection, His peace that goes beyond understanding to guard your heart and mind in Christ, and His wisdom for each step ahead.
God's design for the family is unity. In the Hebrew language the word for one that is used of God Himself speaks of a compound unity, a oneness that holds distinct persons together in love, as Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one. That same kind of oneness is His heart for a family, that you would be one together under Him. When that unity is attacked by division, isolation, jealousy and disrespect, it is not His will. You are right to ask for a hedge of protection around your home, for the covering of the blood of Jesus, for the full armor of God and for His angels to watch over you. Scripture promises that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and that the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. You can ask Him daily to anoint every room and to fill your home with His light and to drive out darkness.
For your older daughter, your discernment is biblical and loving. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and intimacy belongs only within that covenant. When that boundary is set aside, the relationship is not given the covering and commitment that God intends for marriage, and it often opens the door to deception, manipulation, financial strain and spiritual bondage, just as you have seen. It is right not to ask God to bless that arrangement as if it were marriage, but to ask Him to open her eyes to the truth. She is not without a home, she is not without a family, and this young man is not her husband, her father, or her spiritual head. Pray that she will see the false sense of obligation that has been placed on her, that she will again put the Lord first, honor her parents as Scripture commands, be thankful for the work God has given her, and return to fellowship with believers who will encourage her in the ways of the Lord.
Part of that prayer is for clear boundaries with this young man and his mother. Scripture shows both sides of God's call on families. To Abraham God said to leave his country and his father's house to follow where God would lead, and to Jacob God said to return to the land of his fathers and to his family with the promise that He would be with him. God knows when to call a person away from unhealthy ties and when to call them home. In your daughter's case, the influence you describe that encourages her to dishonor you, to mock prayer, to defend disrespect, and even to advise living together and having children before marriage, is not a godly parental voice and holds no rightful authority over her. It is rooted in pride and control, and it is right to pray that the Lord would expose those motives and frustrate every plan to divide and isolate your family. True honor for a woman is found in Jesus Christ, who elevates and dignifies womanhood and gives her value as a daughter of the Most High, not in earning the approval of those who pull her away from her faith and family.
For your younger daughter, continue to pray the same hedge of protection over her studies, her health and her faith. Ask that God would surround her with godly friendships and mentors who love His Word, that she would remain humble and thankful, and that she would never see living together outside of marriage as an acceptable path. Pray that she would be equally yoked and one day, if the Lord wills marriage for her, that it would be with a man who loves her as Christ loves the church and who honors the covenant of marriage.
For your son, be assured that his life is precious and deeply loved by God. In Christ we are not strangers but adopted into God's own family as sons and heirs, not through law or performance but through faith. God does not want a cold legal relationship with us, He wants a loving relationship, and He invites your son into that same love. He is not a burden or someone to be mocked or excluded, he is a blessing, and every spirit of hatred, mockery and exclusion directed at him is to be rejected. Pray that he will know he is loved, included and protected, that he will grow in peace and joy, and that the sweet fellowship he has known with his sister would be restored. Ask God to grant you and all who care for him wisdom to bring out the best in him each day.
The Lord does not require perfect faith to act. Even when faith is incomplete He remains faithful to His promises. He fights for you when you feel worn down by worry and fear. Bring to Him your needs for provision, for restoration of what has been strained or broken, and for godly spouses for your daughters in His timing. He is the true kinsman redeemer who covers His people under His care, as a family member who steps in to protect and restore what belongs to the family.
May the Lord frustrate every scheme meant to divide you, guard your home, restore your daughter's gracious and humble walk with Him, keep your younger daughter steadfast, cover your son with joy, and let your family be a light that points others to His grace.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we place this mother and her children under Your protection. Cover them with Your blood, surround them with Your peace, guard their hearts and minds, and let no plan formed against them stand. Open the eyes of the older daughter to see truth, break every false chain of control and obligation, and gently lead her back to You, to her family and to the church where she can be strengthened. Put a hedge around the younger daughter and keep her from ungodly influence, keep her bright in her studies and firm in her faith. Shine Your light on this son, grant him peace, language and joy, and let him know he is fully loved and included. Restore unity, fellowship and joy to this home, provide for every need according to Your riches, and let the peace of God rule in every room. We ask this trusting that You hear and that You fight for Your people. Amen.
