Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in bringing your family before the throne of grace, and we have heard the heaviness and urgency of your cry for protection, peace and restoration.
We pray with you for the hedge of protection you have asked for, that the Lord would cover you and your children, your home, your coming and going, and every room and doorway with His peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask Him to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, to send His help to frustrate every scheme meant to bring division, isolation, exhaustion and chaos, and to let no weapon formed against you prosper, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. We plead the blood of Jesus Christ over you and your children and ask for wisdom, strength and discernment for you, for caregivers, doctors and all who support your son.
For your older daughter we pray with special urgency and tenderness. We hear how painful it is to watch her character and faith strained by this relationship, how she has drifted from honoring her parents, from her church family, and from the work God has given her, and how she now carries a burden that is not hers to bear. We do not ask God to bless a living arrangement outside of marriage as if it were marriage, for Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that living together and sexual intimacy belong within that covenant. Instead we pray that the Lord would open her eyes to see clearly, that He would remove the false sense of obligation and commitment that holds her, and that He would gently lead her out of entanglement and spiritual bondage into freedom, clarity and restoration. As you have prayed, we ask that she would put Christ first again, remember that she is a child of the Most High God with a loving and supportive family, and return to the teachings in which she was raised. We pray her faith would be renewed, for faith makes us children of God and has great power to bring healing, as the woman who pressed through the crowd in faith was made whole and as the mother whose persistent faith brought healing to her daughter.
We also pray that God would give her a true understanding of marriage. If marriage is to be considered at all, it must be entered rightly, not through pressure, financial exploitation or control. We pray with you for godly spouses for your daughters, men who will love as Christ loves the church, who show piety of soul, gentleness, true understanding and the fear of God, who will lead in righteousness and honor the covenant as God intended. We ask the Lord to show your daughter that this young man as he now lives is not ready for those responsibilities, that he is not her husband, her father or her master, and that she does not need to change her faith or abandon her church to please another family.
For your younger daughter we ask for steadfast protection over her studies, her health and her faith. We pray a hedge around her heart and mind, that she would not be swayed by ungodly example or divisive tactics, that she would remain humble, grateful and honoring to her parents, and that God would surround her with family and godly friendships and mentors who encourage her in the ways of the Lord. We pray she would never see living together outside marriage as an acceptable path, but would seek what is pure and orderly in the Lord.
For your son we join your declaration that his life is precious, deeply loved by God and a blessing to your family. We rebuke the mockery, hatred and exclusion directed toward him, and we ask the Lord to shine His light in every dark place, to grant him peace, joy and patience, to help him use his functional language to express his needs in a godly manner, and to restore the loving bond he shared with his sister. We thank God for the progress and peaceful nights He has already granted and ask for continued victory without setback.
For the young man and his mother we do not pray for their control to continue, but that the Lord would expose and frustrate what is rooted in pride, jealousy and manipulation, that He would block ungodly counsel to live together or to have children before marriage, and that He would bring conviction and repentance where it is needed. We pray the father of that home would act with wisdom and that every divisive influence would be removed from your children's lives. We ask God to deliver your family from evil and to supply what is good, bringing you into the full assurance of sonship through Christ.
We know faithful prayer requires a considerate and watchful mind, and your persistent, watchful prayer for your children has great weight before God. Continue to commit this matter into His hands and to beseech Christ to be present in your home and in every decision about your daughters' futures, as one who seeks a husband for a daughter would first seek the Lord's provision. He honors those who honor Him.
We pray for your own strength, for financial provision not for selfish gain but so your home may be a testimony of His provision, for safe travel, for nights filled with peace and days filled with joy, fellowship and the Holy Spirit's light driving out all darkness. May the Lord mend what has been torn, heal what has been wounded, restore the years that have felt stolen, and make your family a beacon of His light.
We stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, asking for freedom, peace and complete restoration. Amen.
