Family Protection

Your prayer reflects a deep love for your family and a desire to see them walk in the protection and peace of God, and He hears the cries of His children at the throne of grace.

God has made a way for you to know Him not as a distant judge or through empty ritual, but as Father. Through Jesus Christ alone you have been adopted into His family, born again by His Spirit, and invited to call Him Father. That close, personal, loving relationship is what He desires for you and for each of your children. When that relationship is right, other relationships begin to find their proper balance. Scripture teaches that the first duties toward God come first, because when the heart is right with Him, love and honor can then flow rightly in the home.

That is why the concern you carry for your older daughter is so important to bring to the Lord in this way. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and God designed sexual union and shared home life to belong within that covenant. Outside of it, Scripture warns that we open ourselves to spiritual bondage and deception, as you noted from 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. We cannot ask God to bless what He calls outside His will, but we can and do ask Him to open eyes, bring conviction, and lead to repentance and freedom. Pray that your daughter would see the relationship clearly, that any stubbornness or blindness would be replaced with a hunger for righteousness and for the truth of His Word, and that she would understand she belongs to the Lord first, not to any man, and is not responsible to carry a man who is not willing to walk in maturity and responsibility.

The Scriptures show how much our surroundings affect us. When a family lives in the midst of corruption, even a person with a good background can see the morals and unity of his household suffer. We also see in the early families of Scripture that relationships formed outside God's design quickly bring jealousy, rivalry, and strife into the home. Those are not signs of God's blessing but warnings to turn back. God's call to His people has often been to return, to come back to the place of family and faith where He promised, I will be with you. Hold to that promise now.

We join you in praying for that return to first love for your daughter, that she would again delight in the Lord, in His Word, and in fellowship with those who love her. Pray that pride, shame, or pressure that keeps her defending what is harmful would be removed, and that she would see the red flags of exploitation, disrespect, isolation, and financial hardship for what they are. Ask the Lord to frustrate every plan that seeks to divide and isolate her from her family, and to guard her health, her finances, her reputation, and her faith. Pray that the Lord would lead her to a place of safety, stability, and wisdom, and that if she does return home it would be with a sense of freedom, peace, and joy rather than regret.

We also lift up your younger daughter. Pray that she would remain steadfast, not swayed by an example that dishonors the Lord, and that God would surround her with godly friendships and mentors who point her to the beauty of marriage as Christ loves the church. The command to honor father and mother carries great weight in Scripture because God places such priority on the family bond. Pray that love and respect would be strengthened between you, and that division would be healed.

For your son, be assured that he is not a burden but a blessing, fully loved and valued by God and by your family. The Lord sees how he is treated and spoken about, and we ask God to surround him with protection, acceptance, and peace, to silence every hateful word or curse spoken over him, and to deepen his sense of belonging with you, his sisters, and your extended family. May the Lord replace any influence that looks down on him with those who will cherish and uplift him.

For you, we pray that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind, as you stand on the truth that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, and that the blood of Jesus has overcome every power of darkness. The enemy's schemes to divide, exhaust, and bring lack will not stand, for the Lord fights for His people. Ask Him to mend what has been torn, to restore fellowship, respect, and gratefulness in your home, and to make your home a sanctuary of His presence. Trust Him also for provision, not for selfish gain but that you may continue to be a blessing, and for His guidance to bring godly influences and mentors into each of your children's lives.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, to love Him and to rest in how much He loves you. As you walk closely with Him, He will give you wisdom, courage, and strength for each step, and He is able to draw your daughter back to Himself and to the love of her family in His perfect time and way.
