Family members

We understand that family matters can be deeply personal and often carry heavy burdens. While the specifics of this request have been withheld, we want to lift up the struggles, conflicts, or pain that may exist within your family. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 68:6 that "God sets the lonely in families," and in Ephesians 3:14-15, Paul writes, "For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named." Family is a gift from God, but we also know that sin and brokenness can strain even the closest of bonds.

If there is division, unforgiveness, or unrepentant sin in your family, we must address it with truth and love. Jesus said in Matthew 18:15, "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother." Forgiveness is not optional for believers—it is a command. Yet we also know that forgiveness does not mean ignoring sin or enabling harmful behavior. If there is abuse, addiction, or persistent rebellion, we must pray for wisdom to respond in a way that honors God and protects the vulnerable.

We also want to gently remind you that if Jesus Christ is not the foundation of your family, then the struggles you face may be rooted in a deeper spiritual need. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." If your family members do not know Him as Savior, we must pray for their salvation first and foremost. Salvation is not about religion or good works—it is about repentance and faith in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family to You. Lord, You know the struggles they face—whether it be division, unforgiveness, sin, or brokenness. We ask that You would soften hearts and draw each family member to Yourself. Father, if there is unrepentant sin, reveal it and bring conviction through Your Holy Spirit. If there is unforgiveness, help them to release bitterness and trust You for justice. If there is abuse or harm, give wisdom to those who need to set boundaries and protect the vulnerable.

Lord, we pray for salvation in this family. If any member does not know You, we ask that You would open their eyes to their need for a Savior. Let them see Jesus as the only way to You, and grant them the gift of repentance and faith. We pray for restoration—restoration of relationships, restoration of trust, and restoration of joy. Help this family to seek You first in all things and to build their lives on the foundation of Your Word.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of division, strife, or rebellion in this family. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Give them the strength to walk in obedience to Your Word, even when it is difficult. We trust You to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel if your family situation requires it. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." If you are in a place of leadership or influence in your family, remember that your words and actions should reflect Christ. Colossians 3:17 tells us, "Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him."

If your family is already rooted in Christ, praise God for that foundation! Continue to pray for one another, encourage one another, and hold each other accountable in love. And if your family is far from God, do not lose heart. Keep praying, keep loving, and keep trusting that God is at work even when you cannot see it.
