Beloved of All
Please pray for calmness and understanding and that the family dispute will be ok or end without a big to do....... I am old and I do not want discord.. son is handicapped and just doing what he wants ... taking what he wants and others are tired of it....and I don't blame them..he does it to me as well .. but I don't want any family fights...It is bad enough as it is..without more problems. Thank you and please...

We join with you in prayer over this burden on your heart and we hear how weary you are. You are asking for calmness and understanding and for this family dispute to end without a big fight, and we understand you do not want discord in your home in your older years. We also hear that your son who is handicapped has been taking what he wants and doing what he wants, and that others in the family are tired of it, and you are tired as well, even as you have endured it yourself. We want you to know God sees your desire for peace and He cares deeply for you.

The Lord calls us to pursue peace with all people as far as it depends on us. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. And Psalm 133:1 says See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. James 1:19 teaches us to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. We pray that your family would be given soft answers and listening hearts, and that anger would not be allowed to take root.

We also want to speak with love and truth about what is happening with your son. We have compassion for his handicap and for the challenges he faces, and we also know that love does not excuse taking what belongs to others. The Scripture is clear that we are to honor our father and mother, Exodus 20:12, and that taking what is not given is not pleasing to God. Ephesians 4:28 says Let him who stole steal no more, but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need. A handicap does not make wrong behavior right, and true love will set kind and firm boundaries while still showing mercy. Galatians 6:1 calls us to restore one another in a spirit of gentleness. The most loving thing for him and for the whole family is not to simply allow the behavior to continue, because it breeds resentment and division, but to address it honestly and consistently with grace. We encourage you and your family to speak together calmly, perhaps with a trusted pastor or mature believer present as a peacemaker, so that expectations are clear and everyone is heard. Colossians 3:13 says bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Forgiveness does not mean there are no boundaries, it means we release bitterness and choose to love as Christ loved us. Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and peace that passes understanding. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name for salvation and for daily help. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we can cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and find the calmness you are seeking. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is weary and longing for peace in the home. Lord, You know the weight of these family tensions and the exhaustion that comes with age and with constant discord. We ask You to pour out Your calmness and understanding upon this entire family. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and minds. Help each family member to be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to anger, to give gentle answers that turn away wrath, and to bear with one another and forgive as You have forgiven us. We pray especially for this son, that You would work in his heart, teach him to respect what belongs to others and to honor his parent, and give him grace to do what is right. Give this parent wisdom and strength to set loving boundaries without fear, and give the rest of the family patience and compassion without resentment. We ask that this dispute would be resolved without a big fight, that unity would be restored, and that this home would know quietness and love rather than strife. Comfort this one who feels old and tired, remind them that You are their strength and refuge, and let them feel Your nearness. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and our peace, amen.

We hear the weight in your words and how much you want peace in your home. At your age to be caught in the middle, loving a son who has extra challenges and also loving the rest of the family who are worn out, is exhausting. It makes sense you would feel pulled in every direction and just want calm without more hurt.

We admire your desire for understanding rather than taking sides. When tensions have built for a while, it helps to have a little structure before things boil over. If you have a pastor, elder, or trusted family friend everyone respects, inviting that one calm person to sit with you all for a short, unhurried talk when no one is upset can keep voices lower and help each person feel heard without it turning into a big confrontation. You do not have to fix everything at once, just aim for one clear agreement about boundaries and respect going forward.

We are praying for you and will keep praying.

Father, in Jesus' name we ask You to guard this family with Your peace. Give wisdom and gentle words to each one, protect this mother's heart from fear and weariness, and help her son and family find a more understanding way to live together. Lead them to calm and to what is right. Amen.

Your words carry the weight of many years and many sorrows, and we have heard your desire for quietness in the evening of life rather than the clamor of strife. It is a tender and right desire, for peace is a blessing, and the Lord will bless His people with peace, yet there is a peace which is no peace at all, when conscience is made to lie still while wrong continues.

The Scripture says, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This perfect peace is not the mere absence of a family quarrel, but the presence of Christ in the heart. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even in this dark world of sin, and even with sorrows surging round. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. Bear your sorrow with Him, and you shall enjoy that peace which is like a river flowing from the very throne of God. It is a peace which God the Father gives, a peace which Jesus Christ bought with His blood, and a peace which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. Without this peace with God, there can be no abiding peace with ourselves or with one another.

We must tell you plainly that the peace which many desire is only a lull of stupefaction, a crying of peace, peace, where there is no peace. He is the God of Peace and He has prepared everything necessary for a perfect reconciliation through His Son, but that reconciliation must be received. Now all that remains is that man should be reconciled to God, that he should be willing to end the dispute and that his heart should turn towards his Maker again in love. So also in a household, true unity is not to be kept at any price. We are bidden to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, but not the unity of evil or of wrongdoing. In order to lasting, spiritual peace, the phalanx of evil must be broken. A family quiet that is bought by allowing what is wrong to continue without loving correction is not the peace of God, but a false quiet that will not hold.

You speak of your son who is handicapped and who takes what he wants, and of others who are wearied by it, and you yourself have suffered it. We can have compassion for infirmity and yet must say that infirmity does not make right what is wrong. Love does not delight in disorder, and to take what belongs to another is not according to the will of Christ. The kindest thing, for his soul and for the household, is not to indulge the habit but to meet it with patient, firm and gracious truth. Bear with him as Christ bears with us, yet do not call evil good for the sake of avoiding a to do. Better a brief, honest word spoken in meekness than a long, bitter resentment allowed to fester.

What then shall we ask of the Lord for you?

We pray first that you may know that peace which passes all understanding, that your mind being stayed upon Christ, you may be kept in perfect peace though loved ones be divided and duties press hard upon you. May the Lord, who is the God of Peace, renew your peace day by day, for He is unmoved when you are troubled.

We pray that every member of this family may seek first peace with God through Jesus Christ, for He alone is our peace and has made peace by His blood. There will be no true and lasting peace between man and man till each has sought peace with God through the appointed Ambassador, His only begotten Son. We pray that this word of reconciliation may be received in your house, and that being at peace with God, you may be at peace with all things, with life and time and eternity.

We pray for your son, that the Lord would give him grace to do justly and to be content, and to show honor to you in your age, and that the family may deal with him not in anger nor in indulgence, but in the love that is both tender and truthful. We pray for calmness and understanding indeed, but a calmness that comes with honesty, and an understanding that is willing to do what is right. May the Lord keep you from a great and wounding fight, and grant wisdom to speak the truth in love, so that discord may be stayed without compromise of what is good.

It is enough. Earth's struggles soon shall cease, and Jesus calls us to Heaven's perfect peace. Till then, cast this new burden upon the Lord, for He gives peace. When family cares press, take them to Him who blesses His people with peace. May He keep you and yours in His own keeping, and bring you all at last to that perfect peace above where no dispute shall ever enter.

We will remember you before the throne, and ask the Lord to let His peace rule in your heart and in your house, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for calmness and understanding in your family has been heard, and I join with you in bringing it before the Lord.

I hear how weary you are. You are older and you do not want discord, and it is painful when one member of the family takes what he wants and does what he wants, and others grow tired and resentful. You see this even in how he treats you, and yet you love your family and you do not want a great quarrel to break out. That desire for peace is good and pleasing to God.

Scripture teaches that God is not a God of war and fighting, and He calls His people to be at peace with all as far as it depends on them. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, and this peace surpasses all understanding and will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The world often thinks peace is only the absence of argument, but the peace God gives is deeper. It is a calmness of soul that comes from His grace, and it makes us able to bear with one another in lowliness and meekness, not returning insult for insult, and not holding on to remembrance of wrongs. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God, and those who are peacemakers imitate the Son of God Himself.

This does not mean that what is wrong should be ignored or that hurtful behavior should be called good. True peace is not found in pretending, and concord is not always a good thing if it means agreeing with what harms the family. The medicines of salvation are also laws of peace. To pursue peace rightly means to speak the truth in love, without a contentious spirit, and to seek understanding with a pure heart, approaching God and one another without deceit.

For your situation, seek to be the one who remains calm and gentle, even when others are agitated. The lowly person who bears an insult quietly and answers with meekness often quiets a whole house, and dwells in continual peace. As far as you are able, encourage a quiet conversation rather than a heated confrontation, perhaps with one or two trusted family members or a pastor present, so that boundaries can be set with love and clarity for your son, and so that the tiredness and hurt of the others can be heard without turning into a fight. Remembering no evil and forgiving as God in Christ has forgiven us loosens the charges against us and frees us from bitterness.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom we have peace with You, I lift up this dear one to You. You see age and weariness and the longing for a quiet home. Grant calmness that surpasses understanding to guard this heart and this family in Christ Jesus. Pour out Your grace so that discord would cease and understanding would grow. Give wisdom to know how to love a handicapped son with both compassion and firmness, and give patience and forgiveness to the other family members who are tired. Help each one to turn from contention and to seek what makes for peace, to speak without harshness and to listen without anger. Let Your peace rule in this home, and let no great quarrel arise, but let reconciliation and forbearance prevail. Keep this family near to You and to one another, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly. I hear how weary you are and how much you long for calm in your home and family. Wanting to avoid discord and to see things end quietly without a larger fight is a good and loving desire, especially when you have carried burdens for a long time and when you love your son deeply while also seeing the strain his actions place on you and on others.

God wants you to know peace, not constant turmoil. Scripture teaches that wisdom and understanding are more valuable than riches, and that when they fill the heart they bring a life that is pleasant and peaceful. They are like a tree of life and a wellspring of life to those who hold to them. Part of that wisdom is learning to trust in the Lord with all your heart rather than leaning on your own understanding, and to acknowledge Him in all your ways. As you do, He promises to guide your path and to give favor and good understanding in His sight and before others. Understanding also helps us see another person's position with compassion, which opens the door to love and patience even when we are tired.

The deepest peace comes from God Himself. First there is peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ who made a way for us to be forgiven and no longer at war with God. Then there is the peace of God that guards the heart and mind day by day. The prophet said God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus told His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot give this kind of peace and cannot fully understand it, but it is real for the believer who keeps his thoughts and trust turned toward the Lord. Grace comes first, then peace, as you rest in what Christ has already done for you.

For the family, God gave His ways to build up the home and to protect relationships. When those ways are followed, they strengthen family bonds, when they are ignored, families are torn. Wisdom from above is peaceable and it sows peace. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, and Scripture says the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. That does not mean problems are ignored, but it means we seek calm, clear, loving ways to address them. It is right to love your son and to have compassion for his limitations, and it is also right to love the rest of the family and yourself enough to seek understanding and healthy boundaries. Ask the Lord for wisdom to know how to speak truth with mercy, to set limits with kindness, and to encourage each family member to listen and to value one another.

We are praying for you now, that the Lord will ordain peace for you and for your household, that calmness and understanding will grow among you, and that this dispute will be settled quietly without a painful outbreak. We ask Him to keep your heart in His perfect peace as your mind stays on Him, to give you length of days and quietness of heart, and to give each member of the family a greater measure of wisdom and understanding toward one another. May you sense His care over every detail and know that He is working even in this difficult season, and may He fill your home with His peace that passes all understanding.
