Disciple of Prayer
Jesus, nor Paul, nor Peter, nor John, nor James, etc. ever spoke of a pre-tribulation rapture. This false doctrine has only existed since the 1830s. With that said, there is NO way that the early Church believed such a doctrine. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke of Him coming back to this Earth immediately AFTER the tribulation of them days, (Matthew 24:29-31; Mark 13:24-27). Even Paul, the apostle spoke of the gathering unto the Lord Jesus Christ to take place at the second coming, (2 Thess. 2:1). MANY are going to be surprised when the man of sin, the son of perdition declares that he is God, in the rebuilt temple, and they are still here on Earth. That day approaches quickly. After he is revealed, then shortly thereafter it will be the Lord who shall consume the beast with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming" (2 Thess. 2:8). Even the Master said, "he that endures unto the END, the same shall be saved," (Matthew 24:13). Think about the following... If there is a pre-tribulation rapture that would NOT be the end. The end means the end, in other words when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back to this Earth AFTER the tribulation of them days. So we MUST endure unto the end until the Lord Jesus Christ comes back to this Earth which will be after the tribulation. And then the chosen, few, elect will reign with the Lord of lords, and the King of kings for 1,000 years, and eventually in the holy city, new Jerusalem. In Jesus' name! Amen!

We hear your deep concern about the timing of Christ’s return and the doctrine of the rapture, and we share your passion for biblical truth. The Scriptures indeed present a clear sequence of end-time events, and we must approach them with careful study and humility, always testing teachings against the full counsel of God’s Word.

You rightly point to Matthew 24:29-31, where Jesus declares, *"But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other."* This passage, along with Mark 13:24-27, emphasizes that Christ’s return to gather His elect occurs *after* the tribulation, not before.

Paul’s words in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 also align with this: *"Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction."* Here, Paul ties the gathering of believers to the revelation of the antichrist and the day of the Lord, which Scripture consistently places at the end of the tribulation.

The doctrine of a pre-tribulation rapture, as you noted, is a relatively recent development in church history, and we must weigh it against the consistent testimony of Scripture. The early church endured persecution and tribulation, and Jesus Himself warned His followers to expect suffering (John 16:33). He said, *"He who endures to the end will be saved"* (Matthew 24:13), a promise that would be meaningless if believers were removed before the tribulation. The call to endure is a call to faithfulness, even in the face of great trial.

We must also address the danger of false security that some may derive from the pre-tribulation rapture teaching. If believers are led to believe they will escape the tribulation, they may be unprepared for the deception of the antichrist or the intensity of the trials to come. Jesus warned, *"Then if any man tells you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There,’ don’t believe it. For there will arise false christs and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones"* (Matthew 24:23-24). Vigilance and discernment are essential, and we must not be lulled into complacency by teachings that promise an escape from suffering.

That said, we must also guard against division over secondary matters. While the timing of the rapture is important, it is not a salvation issue. What unites us is far greater than what divides us: our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our hope in His return, and our call to live holy lives in anticipation of that day. Paul exhorts us, *"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in us all"* (Ephesians 4:3-6).

Let us also remember that our ultimate hope is not in the timing of Christ’s return but in Christ Himself. Whether we are alive at His coming or have fallen asleep in Him, we will be with the Lord forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Our focus must be on living lives that honor Him, proclaiming the gospel, and making disciples, so that when He does return, we will hear Him say, *"Well done, good and faithful servant"* (Matthew 25:21).

Father in Heaven, we come before You with hearts that long for Your truth and Your return. We thank You for the clarity of Your Word and the promise of Christ’s coming. We ask that You would give us wisdom and discernment as we study the Scriptures, that we may not be led astray by false teachings or deceived by the schemes of the enemy. Strengthen our faith, Lord, that we may endure whatever trials come our way, knowing that You are with us and that our hope is secure in You.

We pray for those who may be misled by teachings that promise an escape from tribulation. Open their eyes to the truth of Your Word, and give them the courage to stand firm in the face of deception. Help us all to live lives of holiness and readiness, always watching and waiting for the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We ask that You would unite Your church in the essentials of the faith, even as we graciously discuss and debate secondary matters. May our love for one another and our shared hope in Christ be a testimony to the world of Your transforming power.

Come, Lord Jesus, come. We long for the day when You will make all things new, when sorrow and suffering will be no more, and when we will reign with You forever in the new Jerusalem. Until that day, help us to be faithful witnesses, shining Your light in a dark world.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We understand your concern about the timing of Christ's return and the doctrine of the rapture. It's important to approach these topics with careful study and humility, always testing teachings against the full counsel of God's Word. We agree that the early church did not teach a pre-tribulation rapture, and the Scriptures consistently place Christ's return to gather His elect after the tribulation.

We also want to encourage you to focus on living a life that honors Jesus, regardless of the timing of His return. Whether we are alive at His coming or have fallen asleep in Him, we will be with the Lord forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Our focus should be on living lives that proclaim the gospel and make disciples, so that when He does return, we will hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).

Let's continue to study the Scriptures together, seeking wisdom and discernment, and living in a way that honors Jesus, no matter what trials come our way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
