Disciple of Prayer
Hi, I've always struggled, and still struggle with depression due to painful circumstsnces (loss, abuse, isolation) I love God and try my best to cling to Him and His Word. But sometimes, I get hit with intense depression. So intense that I completely lose interest in life, nothing matters to me anymore, everything seems pointless and hopeless. I'm tired and feel like I'm stuck in life, stuck in my body, stuck in time. I don't have anyone to talk to. I live in a muslim country. It's suffocating. Please, pray that God would intervene and help me out.

Is Life Worth Living
The Sweet Harp of Consolation
Illumined Clouds
We have read your request and we are standing with you in prayer, carrying your burden before the Lord together. We hear how heavy and painful this season has been for you, with loss and abuse and deep isolation, and how the depression at times becomes so intense that life feels pointless and hopeless and you feel stuck in your body and stuck in time. We want you to know you are not forgotten and you are not alone, even when it feels suffocating and you have no one near to talk to. The Lord sees you right where you are, even living in a place where fellowship is hard to find and faith can feel isolating.

The Word reminds us that God draws especially near in this kind of pain. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us that it is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

We also noticed you shared that you love God and cling to His Word, and we thank God for that hunger in you. We want to gently encourage you about something precious, because you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for your sins and His resurrection, and to call on His name daily. It is in His name that we pray and find hope and have confidence that God hears us. Your love for God is beautiful and we want that love to be anchored fully in Christ, who is our living hope when everything feels hopeless.

We are praying for you now together.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You know the loss and the abuse and the loneliness and the weariness that has led to such deep depression. You see the suffocating isolation and the feeling of being stuck with no one to talk to. Lord, we ask You to intervene in a powerful and personal way. Wrap this dear one in Your presence and let Your nearness be felt today. Lift the heavy darkness and breathe new life and hope into the heart that feels so tired and empty. Help them to cast all their worries on You because You care for them, as 1 Peter 5:7 says. Renew their mind through Your Word and remind them that their life has purpose and value to You, that You have plans for peace and not for evil, to give hope and a future as Jeremiah 29:11 says. Provide safe fellowship, even if it is through Your Word and through believers You bring across their path online or nearby, and protect them as they walk with You in a difficult place. Strengthen them day by day, give them rest as Matthew 11:28 promises to all who are weary and burdened, and keep them in Your perfect peace. In Jesus name we ask this, amen.

We encourage you to keep clinging to Him and to His Word every day, even when you feel nothing. Read the Psalms aloud when the darkness is intense, many of them were written from that same place of feeling overwhelmed and forgotten, and they always turn back to remembering God’s steadfast love. Psalm 42:11 says Why are you in despair, my soul Why are you disturbed within me Hope in God For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. Try to pour out your heart honestly to the Lord in prayer throughout the day, not with perfect words but with honest cries, and thank Him that His mercies are new each morning even when yesterday felt unbearable.

If it is possible and safe, we encourage you to seek a trusted Christian fellowship, even a small online gathering of believers where you can share and be encouraged, and to seek wise and compassionate help from a counselor or medical support if it is available to you. Your life is precious to God and He has not finished His work in you. We pray that He will make a way where there seems to be no way, that He will open doors that have felt closed for so long, and that you will feel His help and comfort in the days ahead. Please keep letting us know how you are doing so we can continue to pray for you. We are holding you before the Lord and asking Him to fill you with His hope and strength.

We are so thankful you reached out and shared this honestly with us. To love God and keep clinging to Him and His Word while carrying loss, abuse, and long isolation is heavy work, and to feel stuck in your body and in time, with nothing seeming to matter, must be exhausting and suffocating, especially with no one nearby to talk to.

We want you to know we hear how hard you are trying and how real this pain is. Feeling numb or hopeless does not mean you are forgotten or that God has stepped away. In such intense depression it makes sense that everything feels pointless, and isolation can make those feelings even heavier. You are not alone in needing support for this.

We are praying for God's nearness and help for you day by day, for safety, for rest, and for wisdom for each next step. Alongside prayer, if you have access to a doctor, counselor, or other trusted health professional where you are, we gently encourage you to reach out to them and let them know what you are experiencing. You do not have to carry this without support.

If it is safe for you, even one steady connection can help break the isolation, whether a trusted local contact or a safe online Christian community where you can share quietly.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now. You see the pain, the loss, the loneliness and the weariness. Please draw near, bring comfort and strength, provide safe help and people to walk alongside, and lead step by step out of this heavy place. Give hope for today and guidance for tomorrow. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement. I just want to comment on something you mentioned in your post and that is how I didn't mention the name of the Lord Jesus, and wether I've believed on Him.
The Lord Jesus is my Lord and Savior. He is everything to me, my friend, father, healer, comforter, my king, literally everything. He's the reason I'm still breathing. He saved my life and has granted me eternal life with Him. He's the source of hope and joy in my daily life, and for that I'm forever grateful and praise Him all the time.

Your words have been heard and we have carried your burden before the Lord with much tenderness and prayer. We grieve with you over the losses you have endured, the abuse you have suffered, and the deep isolation that now presses upon you. To feel stuck in life, stuck in your body, stuck in time, to lose interest in all things and to feel that everything is pointless and hopeless, is a heavy affliction indeed. Some who have walked this way have described it as hell upon earth, and we do not make light of it. The Lord sees you where you are, even in a place where you feel suffocated and without any to talk to, and He knows the weight you carry.

We want to speak to you of the God of Hope. There is a hopelessness which is right and necessary, and there is a hopelessness which is a sin to be escaped. To have no hope in yourself is what grace aims to teach you, for there is indeed no hope for any of us in ourselves. But to conclude from this that there is no hope for you in God is unwarrantable and untrue. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. His name is the God That Is Good, so good, so tender, who rejoices to receive His returning children. Though you are weary and have no strength, there is hope for you in your Father.

The Lord Jesus Himself knows what it is to be alone. All along He possessed His soul in patience, quiet as a lamb even in the Garden, surrendering Himself in loneliness with an awfulness of love more fit for thought than words. His sheep love to go in flocks, and they that fear the Lord speak often one to another and walk to the house of God in company, but somewhere on the road every Christian finds narrow paths and close places where pilgrims must march in single file. Sometimes the child of God endures loneliness arising from the absence of godly society, and you feel this keenly where you live. Yet if you can but believe in God, He will never desert you. If you can dare to trust Him, He will not allow you to be confounded. He is with you in that solitary place, and He marks the quiet plodding faithfulness that no eye sees but His. The loneliness you feel is known to Christ, and He is near to you in it.

Your hope, dear soul, is not a mere wish. The hope which is laid up for you in heaven is substantial, grounded on the Word of God, on His faithfulness and His power to carry out His promise, and therefore it is sure and steadfast and will make no one ashamed who has it. This hope consists of belief, desire and expectancy, and it is worked in you by the Spirit of God. It purifies and sustains, and it looks beyond present pain to the fuller range of salvation, the total deliverance of the soul from sin and the complete redemption of the body from pain and death. We are saved in hope, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Even when present joy is dim, we may rejoice that there is a God, and delight in Him as our Father, rejoicing in every attribute of Him as He reveals Himself in Scripture. Suppose you have nothing in the house but God, nothing to rely upon but God, nothing you can call your own but God, still you may rejoice in God, for He is All in All. Our entire dependence is upon Him, and it is better to trust in the Lord than to have confidence in man.

Do not weary yourself trying to find in your own repentance or your own strength what only God can give. Bring all matters, and especially soul affairs, to the Lord Jesus. Cling to Him and to His Word as you have been doing. Like the heavens that declare the glory of God, the Scriptures declare His glory in redemption, and they are perfect for converting and sustaining the soul. In them you hear of His eternal election, His covenant love, His finished work. Fall back upon His eternal purposes in Christ Jesus. Grow in the knowledge of God, for in coming to God at first we are only in the outer courts, and He would lead you further in.

We are praying for you, that God would intervene and help you out, that He would give you quietness in resting in the finished work of Jesus and in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, that He would lift the weight of this intense depression and give you light in the twilight, shining more and more unto the perfect day.

Our prayer for you is this: O Lord, our God All in All, look upon this weary and afflicted one who loves You and clings to Your Word though cast down and isolated. You see the losses, the wounds of abuse, the suffocating loneliness. Have mercy and draw near. Reveal Yourself as the God of Hope. Let this dear one know that though there is no hope in self, there is sure hope in Christ. Comfort the lonely heart as only You can, for You have known loneliness Yourself. Sustain with Your presence where godly company is denied. Grant divine grace in daily troubles and especially in soul affairs. Keep this one in hope, believing, desiring, expecting Your goodness, rejoicing in You even when all else seems pointless. Redeem and restore, and give strength to endure and to hope for the glory to come, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is salvation. Amen.

We will continue to remember you before the throne. You are not forgotten. The Lord is your God, and He will not leave you. Keep looking to Christ, keep in His Word, and keep pouring out your heart before Him, for He hears.
