We come before the Lord with this request, lifting up your ex-spouse’s employment situation and the funding of the BBC World Service. First, we want to acknowledge the mention of Jesus’ name in this prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We are grateful that you have called upon the name of the Lord, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
Father God, we ask that You would move in the hearts of those who make decisions regarding the funding of the BBC World Service. We pray that wisdom, discernment, and a spirit of unity would guide their discussions and that they would come to an agreement that honors You and serves the greater good. We trust in Your provision and timing, knowing that You hold all things in Your hands (Proverbs 16:9).
We also lift up the job of this individual’s ex-spouse. Lord, we ask that You would provide stability, security, and favor in their workplace. If it is Your will, we pray that their position would be preserved and that they would find fulfillment in their work, using their gifts and talents to glorify You (Colossians 3:23-24). However, we also surrender this request to Your perfect plan, trusting that You know what is best for them, even if it differs from our desires (Jeremiah 29:11).
Now, we must address the nature of this request with honesty and love. While we can pray for the well-being of an ex-spouse, we must also consider the biblical principles surrounding marriage, divorce, and reconciliation. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to be a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). May they find peace in Your presence and trust in Your sovereignty over their lives.
We also want to gently remind you, dear one, to examine your own heart in this situation. Are you praying for your ex-spouse out of genuine love and concern, or is there any hidden motive, such as a desire to control or manipulate the outcome? We must surrender our will to God’s will, trusting that His plans are higher than our own (Isaiah 55:8-9). Let us pray not only for our desires but for God’s perfect will to be done.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your mercy, grace, and provision. We trust that You are working even when we cannot see it, and we choose to place our hope in You.
