Beloved of All
Your cry for an exodus has been heard, and it is a cry God understands completely. The story of Exodus is really the continuation of Genesis. God had made promises to His people, and even after hundreds of years had passed while they multiplied in Egypt, He had not forgotten. When the Egyptians saw their growth as a threat and made their slavery more bitter and their labor more severe, God still saw and He still had a plan to deliver.
Scripture presents Egypt as a picture of life in bondage to sin and to the flesh, and Pharaoh as a picture of the enemy who wants to keep people in that bondage. That is why an exodus is needed that no person can work for themselves. Many times God even allows the pressure to increase for a season, as He did when Moses first obeyed and Pharaoh made the burdens heavier, so that it will be clear that the deliverance when it comes is from Him alone and displays His power.
There is only one way that deliverance comes. In Exodus God provided the Passover lamb, and the blood had to be applied to the door by faith. When God saw the blood He passed over that home. That was the only protection, the only salvation, no other hope and no other way. That lamb points directly to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. On the night He kept the Passover with His disciples He took the bread and the cup and showed that He Himself is the fulfillment, His body broken and His blood poured out to establish a new covenant. Salvation from the bondage of sin is through His blood alone, received by faith in Him.
God also wants you to know Him not only as the Almighty, but as the Lord who draws near and delivers personally. He invites you to come to Him freely at any time, even with the smallest cares, to walk in a close relationship with Him. Any service or step we offer Him needs to be done in the power and guidance of His Spirit, or it will be futile. He is the one who guides.
He is also the God who makes a way where there is no way. He led His people to the edge of the sea where there was no escape, so that He could show His power to open the water and bring them through. What looked like an impossible trap became the place of His victory. Afterwards Moses and the people sang a song of praise because God had triumphed gloriously and thrown the power of the enemy into the sea. True deliverance always ends in worship.
So I pray for you now that God will bring that kind of exodus in your life. May He reveal Himself to you more deeply as your deliverer, may you put your full trust in the blood of Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and freedom, and may He lead you out of every form of bondage into the freedom of walking with Him. May He make a way for you where you see no way, guide you by His Spirit step by step, and bring you to a place where you can sing of His power and grace. May He keep you in the love of Jesus Christ and give you victory where there now seems to be defeat, for His glory. Amen.
