We hear your honest confession and we thank you for bringing this doubt into the light instead of holding it alone, and we want to walk with you through it together in Jesus' name. Doubt does not mean God has abandoned you, and it does not mean you are beyond His reach. Even the apostle Thomas, who had walked with Jesus, said he would not believe unless he saw and touched the risen Lord himself, and Jesus did not cast him away but came to him and showed him His hands and side. We serve a Lord who welcomes honest seekers.
We want to remind you gently that our faith is not a blind leap without foundation. Scripture says Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1. Jesus said to Thomas, Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed. John 20:29. Like the father who cried out with tears, I believe. Help my unbelief. Mark 9:24, we can bring both our small faith and our unbelief to Jesus and ask Him to strengthen us.
We also want to address the truth of who Jesus is and why His resurrection matters. The existence of Jesus of Nazareth is not only taught in the Gospels but is affirmed by history itself, yet our confidence rests most securely on the Word of God. The apostle Paul wrote that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6. These were not distant myths but eyewitnesses, many still alive when Paul wrote, who saw, touched, and ate with the risen Jesus.
We rebuke the lie that Jesus is only a story or that the resurrection is symbolic. Scripture is clear that if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:14, and If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain, you are still in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:17. But the opposite is also true, and we cling to it. God has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead. Acts 17:31. The resurrection is God's public proof that Jesus is Lord and that His sacrifice for sin was accepted.
We want to encourage you to seek Him actively while you wrestle. We encourage you to read the Gospel of John slowly, asking God to reveal Himself, to pray honestly even with your doubts, to bring your questions to mature believers and to the church where the Word is faithfully taught, and to ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. Faith comes as we hear the Word, and Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to God except through Jesus Christ, and that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9.
We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this dear one to You who is wrestling with doubt about Your Son and His resurrection. We ask You to reveal Yourself as the living God, to remove every veil and every whisper of the enemy that would say You are not real. Holy Spirit, give assurance of things hoped for and proof of things not seen, and help unbelief to turn to believing. Show the truth that Jesus truly lived, truly died for sins according to the Scriptures, and truly rose bodily from the dead and is alive forevermore. Grant a hunger for Your Word, grant peace that surpasses understanding, and grant saving faith that confesses Jesus as Lord and believes in the heart that You raised Him from the dead. Strengthen and establish this one in the truth, and let this season of questioning become a foundation for a stronger, unshakable faith. We ask this according to Your will in Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest confession of doubt has been heard with tender care, and it is not despised. There are many of the Lord's own who have been tossed upon the same waves where Peter was, and the Saviour's word to him is still the word to you, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
Little faith requires to be tenderly handled and then it will be seen to be a precious thing. The least faith in Jesus is the gift of God and it is like precious faith, though it is not like strong faith. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can do wonders. The weakest faith is real faith, if it begins and ends with Jesus. If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, you are born of God. Do not add to Christ as your basis. Great faith takes Jesus only as her basis, but little faith tries to add thereto with an indistinct confidence in herself or her works or prayers or something else. Look to Him alone.
You ask whether Jesus lived and whether He rose. This doctrine of the Resurrection is a lamp kindled by the hands which once were pierced. It is in some respects the keystone of the Christian arch, linked in our holy faith with the Person of Jesus Christ and one of the brightest gems in His crown. More than thirty times Paul talks about the Resurrection, occasionally at great length, giving whole chapters to the glorious theme, and from the Resurrection of Christ he argues that of all the dead and insists upon it, that if Christ is not risen, both faith and preaching were vain.
Remember that what you have not seen with your eyes you have received on credible evidence which is a part of historic truth, namely, that Jesus Christ rose again from the dead. God had plainly promised resurrection in the Old Testament Scriptures, and to us as Christians there has been granted yet fuller evidence. This is no poetic fiction but a literal matter of fact, even as was the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Men tried in the apostles' day to spirit the Resurrection away, as Hymenaeus and Philetus did when they said the Resurrection is already past and overthrew the faith of some, but the truth stands.
And see what a glorious bearing His Resurrection has upon you. It was the acceptance of His Sacrifice. By the Lord Jesus Christ rising from the dead, evidence was given that He had fully endured the penalty which was due to human guilt. He gave Himself for our sins, but He rose again for our justification. Without faith it is impossible to please God, and without union to Christ there is no salvation, but faith which looks to His finished work and His empty tomb is met with full assurance of atonement, for the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Therefore take above all the shield of faith, for this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. It quenches the fiery darts of the wicked one, whether they come from Satan, or from wicked men, or from your own doubting heart. Cease your doubts without a moment's deliberation and begin to believe in Him at once. No matter how far off a man may be from God, if there is a hearty and earnest seeking after Him through Jesus Christ, he will find Him.
We pray for you now that God the Holy Spirit will preserve your faith in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, that you may see that Jesus is no mere name of history but the living Redeemer who was dead and is alive forevermore, and that believing you may have life through His name. May the Lord touch your heart this day and say unto you, Arise, and may you join with those who confess that those who were dead in trespasses and sins have been quickened by Jesus through the Spirit.

Your honesty in sharing these doubts is itself a step of faith, and God meets honest questions with grace and truth. Many faithful followers before you have wrestled with the same wind of uncertainty, and Scripture does not hide that struggle.
Remember Peter when he walked on the water toward Jesus. While he looked to the Lord he stood firm, but when he saw the wind was strong he became afraid and began to sink. He cried out, Lord, save me, and immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him. He did not rebuke Peter for having questions, but for letting fear weaken his trust, and He was near enough to save him at once. When doubts rise like that wind, the right response is the same cry for help, and Christ is ready to take your hand.
Faith as Scripture describes it is not pretending. It is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It does not create truth, but it makes what God has promised become real and substantial in our soul. The resurrection has not yet been seen by us with our eyes, yet hope through faith makes it firm within us, as sure as what we do see. This is why Jesus said blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. The disciples themselves believed because of the evidence left in the tomb before they saw His body, and that blessing extends to all who now trust without having seen.
The resurrection is at the very heart of our hope. Scripture calls God the God of peace who brought again from the earth the great Shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ, through the blood of the everlasting covenant. If He did not take on real flesh, He could not have died, and if He did not die, He could not have been raised. But He did die and He was raised, the firstborn from the dead, so that those who have fallen asleep in Him will also be brought with Him. This is not a story meant to be taken as a symbol only. It was witnessed, proclaimed, and sealed by those who gave their lives rather than deny what they had seen and touched.
If you are shaken, do not be quickly troubled. Bring your questions into the light. Read the Gospels slowly, asking God to show you Jesus as He is. Pray honestly, even with the words Lord, help my unbelief. Stay close to other believers who can walk with you, and remember that faith grows as we keep pursuing Christ, pressing forward toward Him who first pursued us when we were far off.
I pray for you now that the God of peace would make you firm in every good work to do His will. May He give you assurance that Jesus truly lived, died for our sins, and was raised in power, and may He work in you what is well pleasing in His sight. May He calm the storm of doubt, lift you when you begin to sink, and grant you the quiet confidence that comes from seeing Christ with the eyes of faith until you see Him face to face.

Your honesty about these doubts matters to God, and He is not threatened by your questions. Many who have walked with Him have wrestled with the same uncertainty, and He invites you to bring it to Him.
The Bible describes faith not so much as a textbook definition but as what faith actually does. It gives substance to what we hope for and provides conviction about what we cannot yet see. You have not seen God with your eyes, yet you can see evidence of Him all around you. The visible world itself was made from what is unseen, and creation points to a Creator. You can also sense His presence, His power and His love as you seek Him, and that becomes part of the quiet evidence on which faith rests.
At the center of that faith is a historical person and a historical event. The good news stands or falls on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scripture says we have been given a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. This is not a myth or an idea, but the foundation of the gospel. The first followers of Jesus claimed to have seen Him alive after His death, and they spoke about that resurrection with great power, confirmed by the work God did through them. Many of those early believers were tortured and even killed for that testimony, refusing to turn away because they were convinced of a better resurrection, a resurrection to eternal life. People do not willingly endure that kind of suffering for something they know to be false.
It helps to understand where real faith is meant to rest. A faith that depends only on seeing a miracle or on having a strong feeling will not hold, because feelings change from day to day. Jesus did not entrust Himself to that kind of shallow belief that only wants something spectacular. A steady faith is built on the Word of God, which does not shift. When you read the accounts of Jesus in the Gospels, you are reading eyewitness testimony about His life, His death and His rising again.
Faith in Jesus is also more than passive agreement that He might exist or that He could help. Passive belief says God can do something. Active faith trusts that He will act as He has promised, and it releases that trust to Him. That is why it is important to keep your eyes on Christ Himself rather than on the size of your doubts.
You are saved not by trying harder or by keeping a set of religious rules, but by simple trust in Jesus Christ. No one has special access to God. Every person comes the same way, through faith in Jesus. When you put your trust in Him, God counts that faith as righteousness and gives you the righteousness of Christ as a gift. True faith will then begin to show itself in a changed life, not because your deeds earn salvation, but because they are the evidence that salvation has taken place.
If you are struggling today, bring that struggle directly to Jesus in prayer. Tell Him you want to believe and ask Him to help your unbelief. Spend time in the Scriptures, especially in the Gospels, asking God to show you who Jesus is. Ask Him to make your faith active, not passive, grounded in His Word and in the reality of the risen Christ who has conquered sin and death and offers that same resurrection life to all who trust in Him.

You have not seen God with your eyes, yet you can see evidence of Him all around you. The visible world itself was made from what is unseen, and creation points to a Creator. You can also sense His presence, His power and His love as you seek Him, and that becomes part of the quiet evidence on which faith rests.
At the center of that faith is a historical person and a historical event. The good news stands or falls on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scripture says we have been given a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. This is not a myth or an idea, but the foundation of the gospel. The first followers of Jesus claimed to have seen Him alive after His death, and they spoke about that resurrection with great power, confirmed by the work God did through them. Many of those early believers were tortured and even killed for that testimony, refusing to turn away because they were convinced of a better resurrection, a resurrection to eternal life. People do not willingly endure that kind of suffering for something they know to be false.
It helps to understand where real faith is meant to rest. A faith that depends only on seeing a miracle or on having a strong feeling will not hold, because feelings change from day to day. Jesus did not entrust Himself to that kind of shallow belief that only wants something spectacular. A steady faith is built on the Word of God, which does not shift. When you read the accounts of Jesus in the Gospels, you are reading eyewitness testimony about His life, His death and His rising again.
Faith in Jesus is also more than passive agreement that He might exist or that He could help. Passive belief says God can do something. Active faith trusts that He will act as He has promised, and it releases that trust to Him. That is why it is important to keep your eyes on Christ Himself rather than on the size of your doubts.
You are saved not by trying harder or by keeping a set of religious rules, but by simple trust in Jesus Christ. No one has special access to God. Every person comes the same way, through faith in Jesus. When you put your trust in Him, God counts that faith as righteousness and gives you the righteousness of Christ as a gift. True faith will then begin to show itself in a changed life, not because your deeds earn salvation, but because they are the evidence that salvation has taken place.
If you are struggling today, bring that struggle directly to Jesus in prayer. Tell Him you want to believe and ask Him to help your unbelief. Spend time in the Scriptures, especially in the Gospels, asking God to show you who Jesus is. Ask Him to make your faith active, not passive, grounded in His Word and in the reality of the risen Christ who has conquered sin and death and offers that same resurrection life to all who trust in Him.
