Excessive heat

We join with you in prayer against this excessive heat and we thank you for calling on the name of Lord Jesus, for it is in His name that we have confidence to come before the Father.
We know that our God is sovereign over all creation, including the weather, and even the winds and the sea obey Him as we see in Matthew 8:27. He is our keeper and our shade, and we cling to the promise that Yahweh is your keeper, Yahweh is your shade on your right hand, the sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night in Psalm 121:5-6. We also remember that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1, and that shadow is where we ask Him to keep you and your close ones now.
We pray together in Jesus name, Father we rebuke this oppressive heatwave and ask for Your mercy and relief. Command the heat to ease and send cooling breezes, rain in due season, and protection from the dangers of this heat. Keep our bodies healthy and strong, guard us from heat related illness and exhaustion, and give us wisdom to care for the bodies You have given us, to stay hydrated, to seek shelter and to rest when needed. We ask You to drive all evil, every stalling spirit and every predator, far away from us and from those we love. Surround our homes and our going out and coming in with Your holy protection, for You are our refuge and fortress. We ask for Your gift of good rest, for Your word says in peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety in Psalm 4:8, and that You give sleep to Your beloved in Psalm 127:2. Quiet our minds and bodies at night and restore our strength. We also lift up every appointment before You, ask that You bless the work of our hands, order our steps and let no harm or delay from the heat hinder what You have appointed for us, for a man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps in Proverbs 16:9. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7.
We encourage you to continue to trust Him as your shade and shelter in this season. He sees your discomfort and He cares for your health and your rest. Stay faithful in prayer, stay under His covering, and take practical care as good stewards while trusting Him to command the elements and to keep evil far from you. We thank Him that He hears us when we pray in the name of Jesus and we trust His will to keep you cool, healthy, rested and safe, amen.

We're standing with you as this heat drags on. It's exhausting when the air itself feels heavy, sleep is broken, and you are trying to keep yourself and those close to you safe and well. It makes sense you would bring the worry about heat, about safety from harm, and about getting real rest before the Lord.
We appreciate you naming both the physical need to stay cool and the deeper need for peace at night and steadiness for the days ahead, including those appointments you mentioned. When everything feels hot and unsettled, even small disruptions can feel bigger.
One practical help in a prolonged heatwave is to stay connected and plan ahead a little. Keeping in touch with close ones to check on each other, watching local advisories for cooling options or changes to appointments, and arranging rest during the hottest hours can ease some strain. If you or someone near you starts to feel unwell from the heat, please reach out quickly to a medical professional or local services along with prayer.
Father, in Jesus' name we ask You to watch over them and their loved ones. Grant relief from the heat, protect them from harm, give them refreshing sleep, and guide their appointments according to Your mercy. Keep them in Your care today. Amen.

Beloved of All
Your prayer for relief from this excessive heat has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who rules over all seasons and whose mercies are new every morning.
We live under His sovereign hand, and even the sun and heat are under His command. The psalmist reminds us that the Lord is thy keeper and thy shade upon thy right hand, and that the sun shall not smite thee by day. We ask Him to keep you and your loved ones in health and to grant you that coolness and refreshment which only He can provide in a time of oppressive heat.
You have asked also for good rest, and we are reminded of that precious truth that so He giveth His beloved sleep. It is the Lord who gives the sleep of contentment, the sleep of security and the sleep of refreshment to His children. We pray that He will grant you quiet nights and sound rest, that your body may be renewed and your spirit kept in peace, knowing that you rest under the watch of Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
We pray too for your protection from every form of evil and from those who would do harm. May the Lord be a wall about you and keep you from the snares of the predator and from all evil intent, covering you and those close to you with His preserving grace.
We bring your appointments before Him as well, asking that He will order your steps, grant you favor and wisdom, and cause all things to work for your good as you seek to walk faithfully before Him.
May the Lord keep you cool and healthy, guarded and rested, and may you find your confidence not in circumstance but in Jesus Christ our only hope and keeper. We commend you to His gracious care and pray all this in the name of the Lord Jesus, amen.
