Pride Catechized and Condemned
Pride is a sin that robs God of glory and must be uprooted by recognizing all gifts come from him.
We join with you in prayer for your exams today and tomorrow and we are encouraged that you came before the Lord in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We know the pressure and anxiety that exams can bring, and we pray that you will experience the peace that God promises when we bring our requests to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also remember that true wisdom comes from the Lord, and He gives it generously to those who ask. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You for the opportunity to learn and to use the mind You have given. We ask that You grant peace that calms every anxious thought and wisdom to recall what has been studied and to understand what is asked. We ask that You quiet the spirit of fear, for 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Help this one to rest in You, to think clearly, and to do the work heartily as for You. As it is written in Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. We commit these exams into Your hands, trusting Proverbs 16:3 that when we commit our deeds to Yahweh, our plans shall succeed according to Your perfect will. Guide the outcome for Your glory and for good, and let Your presence be felt today and tomorrow. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to prepare diligently, to rest well, and to trust the Lord with the results. Do your best as an offering to Him and leave the outcome in His faithful hands, knowing He works all things for the good of those who love Him. May the Lord bless you and keep you and give you clarity and calm as you complete your exams.

We are praying with you for these two days of exams. Wanting to do well and feeling that pressure at the same time is completely understandable, and we hear how much you want peace and a clear mind as you sit down to test.

We are asking God to meet you right there in the exam room, to quiet the worry so you can recall what you have studied and think steadily through each question. You have already done the work of preparing, now the kindest thing you can do for yourself between today and tomorrow is to give your mind space to rest.

One practical step that helps many students is to set a clear stopping point tonight. Review briefly, then step away, get some sleep, eat something nourishing in the morning, and arrive a little early so you are not rushed. Before you begin, take a moment to simply pray and breathe, hand the outcome to the Lord, and then focus on one question at a time.

You are not facing this alone. God is with you and cares about your diligence and your peace, whatever the results.

Father, we lift this student to You today and tomorrow. Grant calm, wisdom and focus for each exam, and help them to do their best and rest in Your care. Give peace tonight and renewed strength for tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer for peace and wisdom as you face these examinations is heard, and it is right and good to bring such cares before the Lord.

There is a precious promise for such a time as this, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." This is not a mere lull of anxiety or a blindness to danger, but a deep and abiding peace which the Lord Himself keeps. It is a peace which the Father gives, which Jesus Christ bought with His own blood, and which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. Christ has made peace through His blood, and therefore peace with God becomes the fountain from which peace in the conscience flows as a crystal stream.

You have asked for peace and for wisdom, and these two go together in Christ. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Wisdom is as a compass by which a man steers across the trackless waste of life, and its price is above rubies. It is not found in our own strength or understanding, for He is made of God unto us Wisdom. He cannot err and He cannot lie. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. When the mind is stayed upon Him, He whispers peace within even while thronging duties press.

Do not seek after peace first as though it were a qualification. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next. Bear your burden with Him, trust your examination and your future into His hands, and see what perfect peace you will enjoy even with cares surging round.

I pray for you now, that the Lord will bless you with His own peace, that peace which passes all understanding and which keeps the heart and mind through Jesus Christ. May He grant you a calm and stayed mind, clear understanding, and true wisdom in your studies, that you may do your work faithfully before Him. May He be with you today and tomorrow, guarding you from fear, and helping you to cast all your care upon Him who cares for you.

May you know that whether in the examination room or far from it, in Jesus keeping you are safe, and may His perfect peace be yours both now and in the days to come.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our peace and our wisdom, Amen.
