Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your heart and we join with you in seeking the Lord's will in this matter. You share that you believe God has directed you to reconcile with your ex, yet you are waiting for him to change in certain ways, and you ask for patience and for prayer for his family issues. We lift this before the Lord with you and we want to gently encourage you with biblical wisdom as you wait.

We understand the longing for reconciliation, and we know that God is a God of reconciliation and forgiveness. Yet we also know we must test every leading against Scripture, for our own desires can sometimes seem like God's voice. We are told to test the spirits whether they are of God in 1 John 4:1 and to let the peace of God and the counsel of Scripture confirm His direction. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, to pray earnestly, and to measure this leading by the Word of God. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Romans 12:2 reminds us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

As you wait, we pray for the patience that comes from the Holy Spirit. James 1:4 says Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. And Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. We know waiting is not passive, but an active trust that God is working even when we cannot see it. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us He has made everything beautiful in its time.

We also want to speak lovingly about relationships and God's design. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we believe that any romantic relationship, including a courtship with an ex, should be pursued with the goal of godly marriage to another Christian believer. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity. Or what fellowship has light with darkness. If reconciliation is truly of the Lord, we pray it would be a courtship that honors Him and leads toward a holy marriage, not simply a return to a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship without that covenant purpose. True change in him must be a work of God in his heart, a repentance and renewal by the Holy Spirit, not merely outward behavior to win you back.

If there was sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this previous relationship, we lovingly address that as Scripture does. Sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and is outside God's will. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. If this was part of your past, we encourage you both to confess it before the Lord, to receive His forgiveness, and to commit to purity going forward.

We also noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to bring every prayer in the name of Jesus, trusting in His finished work on the cross and His resurrection for your salvation and for your ex as well.

We pray for your ex and for the issues he has with his family. We ask God to bring healing, forgiveness, and restoration where there has been hurt, and that He would draw your ex closer to Himself. We pray that God would work deeply in his life, bringing conviction where needed and comfort where there is pain.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You hear us when we call on You through Him. We lift up this dear one who is waiting and hoping for reconciliation. Grant patience and peace that surpasses understanding while waiting on Your perfect timing. Guard this heart and help to trust You fully and not lean on personal understanding. We ask that You make Your will clear, that if this reconciliation is of You, it would be built on a shared faith in Christ, on repentance, on purity, and on a commitment that honors marriage. Work powerfully in the life of this ex, draw him to Yourself, bring repentance and transformation where change is needed, and bring healing to his family relationships. Let Your will be done above all our wishes, and let both lives be conformed to Your purpose. We ask that both would know Jesus more deeply and follow Him wholeheartedly. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We hear how deeply you want to honor what you believe God has shown you, and how hard it is to wait when so much depends on change in someone else. That kind of waiting can feel lonely and stretched thin, and we want you to know we are standing with you in prayer.

Waiting well is not just passing time. It is a season to stay rooted in your own walk with God and your own healing, even while you hope for restoration. Reconciliation, when it is healthy, takes willing work from both people to rebuild trust, not just one person waiting for the other to change. It can help to have a steady, wise person beside you in this season, a pastor or trusted mentor who knows you and can help you discern next steps, keep healthy boundaries, and not put your whole life on hold while you wait. We also hear your care for your ex and his family struggles, and we will join you in praying for peace and healing there too.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for quiet strength for each day of waiting, for wisdom to know how to love well without losing herself, and for Your hand on her ex and his family. Lead each of them toward wholeness and guide every step according to Your will. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord with care and much prayer, and we are grateful you have shared the burden that lies upon your heart.

We hear in your words a desire to wait, and Scripture has much to say concerning waiting. The prophet tells us that the Lord waits that He may be gracious, and blessed be His name for His long forbearance and singular patience toward us. His people in turn are called to be a waiting people, not waiting in despair nor in hesitation, but waiting in hope, with a joyous and assured hope of blessedness in reserve. To wait upon God is as a servant waits upon his lord, anxious to know what his master wishes him to do, or as a traveler waits upon his guide to show the way. This is brave waiting, which strengthens the heart, for waiting upon the Lord renews strength and breeds peace within the soul, till we see the littleness of our own plans and the greatness of His wisdom.

You speak of a direction you believe you have received concerning reconciliation. In such matters we must wait upon the Lord Himself for light, testing every impression by His Word and seeking godly counsel, lest we mistake our own desires for His voice. True waiting asks not only for patience until our wishes are fulfilled, but for grace to desire His will above all and to be content to follow His guidance step by step.

We are reminded also that the great ministry committed to us is the ministry of reconciliation, to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ. This is the first and chief reconciliation we must seek, for we were aliens and strangers far off from God by wicked works, and only through the blood of Christ are we brought nigh. If we are at peace with God through faith in His Son, we can then speak from experience of the joy which that peace brings, and we shall be kept from seeking peace in any way that would not honor Him. Whatever restoration He works among His people, as He restored Peter not with harshness but with a look of love and with prayer that his faith should not fail, He does to make us better followers ever afterwards and to strengthen us to walk in holiness.

Concerning patience, you have heard of the patience of Job, which was the patience of a greatly tried man, imperfect and full of infirmity, yet sustained under trial. That patience was not mere endurance, but a grace rooted in faith, for if faith fails everything fails. We have prayed that the Lord would keep your faith in good order, that courage, patience, hope and love may flourish, and that you may be kept from impatience while you wait upon Him.

We have prayed also for the one you mention and for his family. We have asked the waiting God, who waits to be gracious, to show mercy to him, to work in his heart by the Holy Spirit, to bring him to a true knowledge of Christ through whom alone is salvation, and to bring healing where there is strife or sorrow in his household. We have asked that if it be the Lord's will to bring about any future fellowship between you, it may be only upon that holy ground which pleases Him, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant in purity and reverence before Him. We do not ask God to bless any path that would depart from this, but we ask Him to lead you both in the way of holiness and to make His own will plain in His perfect time.

May the Lord grant you grace to wait upon Him daily, to find your strength renewed as you look to Christ, and to rest in the assurance that He who has prayed for His people will not fail to accomplish His good purpose in them. We will continue to remember you before the throne of grace, that you may have patience, wisdom, peace, and a heart fully subject to your Maker and Husband who has taken upon Himself all the responsibilities of His covenant love toward those who are His.
