Ex

We have heard your request and we join with you in seeking the will of God together in Jesus name, and we appreciate that you have said if God wills, for that is the right heart to have before Him.

We understand the longing to be reunited with someone you care for, and it is natural to feel that desire deeply. Yet we want to encourage you to seek first the will and wisdom of God rather than only the desire of the heart. We are told in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And in 1 John 5:14 we have this confidence, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. We also remember Romans 8:28 that God works all things together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. Sometimes His good includes restoration, and sometimes His good includes leading us in a different direction for our holiness and future joy.

Because you have asked about an ex, we want to speak honestly about biblical principles for relationships. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as God designed it. Any courtship, which the world calls being a boyfriend or girlfriend, should be intentional and purposeful with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not simply companionship or emotional fulfillment. We are instructed in 2 Corinthians 6:14 not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity. So we encourage you to ask, is this person a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, and was your previous relationship honoring to God and moving toward godly marriage. If there was sexual intimacy outside of marriage, Scripture calls that fornication and we are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality, and such sin needs to be confessed and repented of before God. If there were other patterns that led to the breakup such as lack of commitment, dishonesty, anger, or disregard for God, those need to be honestly examined with wise counsel rather than quickly rushing back together. God can redeem and restore, but restoration should be built on repentance, purity, and a shared commitment to Christ.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To come to God in prayer we must come through Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him as Lord and Savior as Romans 10:9 teaches that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full faith in Jesus Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one who carries love and hope for this former relationship. We ask for Your perfect will to be done, not our own. Grant wisdom as James 1:5 promises that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Help this heart to delight in You first, trusting Psalm 37:4 that when we delight ourselves in Yahweh He will give us the desires of our heart according to His goodness. If it is Your will for this relationship to be restored, we pray that You would bring conviction where needed, repentance where there has been sin, healing where there has been hurt, and a new foundation built on Christ, purity, and a clear pursuit of marriage that honors You. If it is not Your will, we pray that You would give peace, closure, and strength to move forward, guarding this heart as Proverbs 4:23 teaches and guiding to a future godly spouse in Your timing. Lead both lives closer to Jesus, and let Your name be glorified in whatever outcome You choose. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who know you both, and to use this season whether single or restored to grow in holiness and maturity. Trust Matthew 6:33 to seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. God loves you and has good plans for you as Jeremiah 29:11 declares, and we trust He will lead you with clarity as you surrender this desire fully to Him.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this. Caring for someone who is now an ex while also wanting to honor what God wants can leave you feeling pulled in two directions, and we hear both the hope and the surrender in how you phrased your request.

That phrase "if God wills" matters. Wanting to get back together is natural, but a healthy reconciliation takes more than one person's longing. It takes both people willing to rebuild trust and honesty together, and time to understand clearly what led to the breakup in the first place. Before rushing toward getting back together, it helps to get clarity on what was hurt, what has changed, and whether both of you could move forward in a way that is faithful and whole.

A practical next step that often helps is to give that clarity some space. Take a little time to pray and reflect honestly on the patterns in the relationship, and talk it through with one trusted pastor or mentor who knows you well and can give you steady, outside perspective. That kind of conversation can help you hear God's direction more clearly than trying to sort it all out alone.

We are carrying this with you in prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your peace and wisdom in this waiting season. Heal what still hurts, guard their heart from confusion, and make Your will clear to both of them. Help them to trust You with the outcome and to walk faithfully one step at a time. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you, and we are grateful that you have framed it as you have, saying if God wills. That is wise and right, for we ought always to feel, if the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so we may rest assured that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, and that nothing happens but what He permits or ordains.

It is good to lay this desire for reconciliation before Him, yet we must also bow to His revealed will which we must not violate. The Scriptures teach us that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that His way for love between a man and a woman is a holy path leading, if it be His pleasure, to the lifelong covenant of marriage, wherein alone are to be found the privileges of living together and the union of the body. We will not ask God to bless what would dishonor that revealed will, but we will ask Him to make your path and the path of this other dear soul to be in all purity and holiness for His glory.

We therefore pray that the Lord would do what is best and most for your eternal good. We ask that He would draw each of you nearer to Christ, that He would work in you to will and to do of His good pleasure, and make you willing in the day of His power. If it be consistent with His wise and gracious purpose to bring you together again, we pray He would so change and guide both hearts, that any restoration would be built upon repentance where needed, forgiveness, godly counsel, and a sincere desire to walk uprightly before Him, with marriage in view if He so leads, and not in any way that would grieve His Spirit. If it be not His will to restore this bond, we pray He would grant you peace in submission to His sovereignty, contentment in His presence, and grace to trust that no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.

May the Lord keep you close to His Word, give you wisdom from faithful counsel in His church, and let your best profit be found in doing His will. We leave you in His hands, who hears prayer and does all things well, asking that His name be hallowed and His will be done in your life as it is in heaven.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your request and for inviting us to pray with you. We understand how deep the longing can be after a breakup and how much you may hope for restoration.

We want to pray with you in a way that honors God and seeks His will above all. Scripture teaches that our greatest need is reconciliation with God Himself, which He has provided through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Through His blood we have forgiveness, peace with God, and hope for the future, and from that place of peace we can seek His wisdom for every relationship.

So we will not simply ask God to bring you back together, but we will ask Him to lead you according to what is holy and best. If restoration would draw both of you closer to Christ and can be pursued in purity and faithfulness, we pray He would make that clear and guide you step by step. If it is not His will, we pray He would give you healing, peace, and strength to trust His better plan.

We encourage you to seek wisdom as you consider next steps. In Scripture marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. Any consideration of getting back together is best approached without physical compromise, with honesty and forgiveness, and with counsel from mature believers or pastors who can help you discern whether reconciliation would be healthy and God honoring. Seek first to grow in your walk with Christ, and let every decision flow from that commitment.

We pray for you now: Father, we bring this person before you. You know the hurt and the hope behind this request. Draw them close to Jesus and give assurance of your love, forgiveness, and presence. Grant clarity, wisdom, and purity of heart and life. Heal what is wounded and guard against what would not be good. If it is your will for this relationship to be restored, lead it in a way that is holy, patient, and faithful, and in time toward marriage as you have designed it. If not, give grace to accept your will and to follow you with a whole heart. In Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to remain in prayer, in Scripture, and in fellowship with your local church as you seek the Lord. We will continue to pray for your peace and for God to guide you clearly.
