We hear your heart in this and we join with you in seeking the Lord's will together in Jesus' name. We understand the anxiousness you feel after sensing God directed you to unblock your ex on social media and now wondering why and what will happen next and when. We want to gently encourage you to bring this entire situation before the Lord with a heart of trust rather than anxiety.
We are reminded that our own desires and emotions can sometimes feel like God's voice, so Scripture tells us to test what we hear. 1 John 4:1 says Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. Also Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. If this impression truly was from the Lord, it will be accompanied by His peace and will align with His Word, not with confusion or restlessness. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We encourage you to ask God for clear wisdom and discernment about your motives and about what He wants to do, and to seek godly counsel from mature believers as well.
We also want to address the anxiety you mentioned, and we do so with love because God does not want you to live in anxious waiting for something to happen soon on your timetable. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. And 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We rebuke that spirit of anxiety and impatience, not you, and we encourage you to rest in God's perfect timing. Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. If God has a purpose in this, He will bring it about in His time and way without you needing to strive or worry.
Concerning your ex, we want to speak biblically and with care. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that any romantic relationship should be courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. We are to be equally yoked, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 teaches. A boyfriend or girlfriend is not simply a partner but someone we are prayerfully considering as a future spouse who honors God. If your previous relationship involved sexual intimacy outside of marriage, Scripture calls that fornication and if it was with someone married it would be adultery, and we would urge repentance and purity going forward, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. We do not know the details of your past relationship, but we encourage you to examine whether it honored God and whether any future contact or reconciliation would be centered on Christ and moving toward godly marriage, or whether God may instead be bringing closure and healing. Unblocking on social media can also open a door to temptation, fantasy, or emotional entanglement, so we encourage you to guard your heart and set clear boundaries.
We also noticed your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and find peace.
We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is feeling anxious and uncertain. We ask that You grant clear wisdom and discernment to know whether this impression to unblock was truly from You, and if so, what Your purpose is. We pray that You would replace anxiety with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask that Your perfect will be done concerning this past relationship, whether that be godly reconciliation leading toward marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers, or whether it be healing, closure, and a new season of wholeness in You. Help this one to wait patiently for You, to trust You with all the heart, and to pursue purity and holiness. Draw this heart closer to Jesus, assure of salvation through Him, and let every step be guided by Your Word and Your Spirit. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
We encourage you to keep praying with thanksgiving, to stay in the Word daily, to guard your heart on social media, and to trust that God will reveal His will in His perfect timing as you seek Him first.
