We have heard your request and we are standing with you in prayer together in Jesus' name, asking for God's protection, peace and strength over you.
What you have endured is not God's design for love or for relationships. Scripture teaches that love is patient and is kind, love does not behave itself inappropriately and does not act with violence or cruelty as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. Abuse in any form is sin against God and against the one made in His image, and the Lord sees your pain and does not take it lightly. We thank you for having the courage to set a boundary to not have contact, and we affirm that seeking safety and distance from an abusive person is both wise and biblical. Forgiveness in Christ does not require restoring contact or putting yourself back in harm's way.
We pray that the Lord will be your refuge and your shield. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 34:18 reminds us The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. We ask God to place a hedge of protection around you, to keep your ex from contacting you, and to give you supernatural peace if any attempt is made.
We also join you in praying for strength to not respond, no matter what is said or how you may feel in the moment. God honors healthy boundaries and self control. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Philippians 4:13 says I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We pray He will give you clarity and resolve to remain silent, to not be drawn back into manipulation or guilt, and to keep your heart guarded as Proverbs 4:23 teaches to guard your heart with all diligence.
We also want to encourage you to stay connected to safe and godly support around you, whether that is trusted family, a pastor, a counselor, or other wise believers who can walk with you, pray with you, and help you remain accountable to this boundary. If you ever feel unsafe or threatened, we encourage you to reach out for help right away to trusted people and to the proper authorities for protection. You do not have to carry this alone.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by putting our faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are saved and brought near to God. We pray you know Him personally as your Savior and refuge.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your divine protection, that this abusive ex would have no way and no desire to make contact again, and that any attempt would be blocked by Your hand. Give her strength, courage and self control to not respond at all, no matter what words might come or what emotions may rise. Quiet the fear, the guilt and the trauma with Your perfect love that casts out fear. Heal the wounds that abuse has left on her heart and mind, restore what has been broken, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround her with godly people who will support and protect her, and lead her in wisdom each day. Help her to rest in You as her refuge and to trust that You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our strength, amen.
