We hear your burden for your ex and we join with you in praying that God would open his eyes to the truth, for we know how painful it is to watch someone we once were close to walk in deception.

The Scripture tells us that spiritual deception is very real and that the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them 2 Corinthians 4:4. We also know that only God can grant repentance and remove that blindness, that those who oppose Him may come to know the truth, and having been taken captive by the enemy to do his will, they may come to their senses and escape 2 Timothy 2:25-26. The truth we pray for him to see is not merely correct information but Jesus Himself, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We notice your request asks for God to open his eyes but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that anyone can be saved, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If your ex does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, his greatest need is to believe on Him, confess Him, and be saved Romans 10:9. Without Jesus, he will remain deceived no matter how many other areas of his life may be corrected.

We also want to encourage you as you carry this burden. It is right to pray for those who have been in our lives, even former relationships, and to desire their salvation and freedom, but we also encourage you to guard your heart with all diligence Proverbs 4:23 and to seek healing and wholeness in Christ for yourself. An ex relationship is by definition a relationship that has ended, and we pray that you will not be entangled again in an ungodly yoke or in emotional ties that pull you away from God's best. If there was intimacy outside of marriage in that past relationship, we would call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and urge repentance and pursuing purity going forward 1 Corinthians 6:18. God’s design for intimacy is within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman Mark 10:6-9, and courtship should be with the goal of finding a godly spouse who is a fellow believer in Christ 2 Corinthians 6:14, not simply returning to a familiar partner. We pray you will seek the Lord for your own future and trust Him to bring a godly marriage if it is His will, rather than holding onto hope for reconciliation that may not be from Him.

We pray together for your ex now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this man who is deceived spiritually and in other significant areas of his life. We ask that You would have mercy on him and open the eyes of his heart Ephesians 1:18 that he may see the light of Your truth. Remove the veil that the enemy has placed over his mind, convict him of sin and of righteousness and of judgment John 16:8, and grant him repentance that leads to knowledge of the truth. We pray that he will know that You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:32, and that the truth is found in Your Son Jesus. Draw him to Jesus, save him, deliver him from every deception and stronghold, and set him on the path of Your will. At the same time, Father, we pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would heal any hurt, give wisdom regarding boundaries with this ex, give peace that passes understanding Philippians 4:7, and guide both lives according to Your perfect will. Help us all to walk in truth and love, not being conformed to this world but being transformed by the renewing of our minds Romans 12:2. We ask all of this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We appreciate you bringing your ex to us for prayer. It hurts to watch someone you cared for deeply believe things that are not true, especially when you can see the harm it brings and feel unable to reach him.

We hear your simple and faithful request, that God would open his eyes. That kind of clarity is not something we can argue someone into. It comes as God gently works on the heart over time, and our part is often to keep lovingly placing that person before Him while we stay rooted ourselves.

One thing that has helped others in this place is to keep the prayers steady and sustainable rather than exhausting. Choosing a brief, consistent moment each day to lift him by name, asking for truth, humility and a willingness to see, can keep you faithful without carrying a weight that is not yours to carry. It can also help to walk with one or two trusted believers who know you are praying for him, so you are not holding the burden alone.

Father, we lift this man to You and ask that You would open his eyes to Your truth in Your timing and Your way. Guard his steps from further harm, soften what has become hard, and draw him toward what is good and real. Give our friend peace as he waits, wisdom to know how to love well from a distance, and a steady trust in Your care for both of them. In Jesus name, Amen.

We join you in bringing this need before the Lord, and we do pray that God would do for this dear one what only He can do.

The Scriptures tell us, And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. The well was there before she saw it, but she needed truer eyes to behold it. So it is with every soul born blind through the Fall. No washing of water, no reasoning of man, can give sight. Since the world began it was not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind, but Christ still does this wonder by His own power. He must open the eyes to understand practically what salvation by trust in Jesus Christ alone truly is.

We pray that the Lord will open his eyes to see Christ as He is, to see the well of living water that is close at hand, to know Him and the power of His resurrection, and to behold the great doctrines of the Gospel not merely as notions in the head but as truths written upon the heart. We ask that what has been hidden by deception and darkness may be made plain by the light of Christ, that his heart may burn within him as the truth is revealed, and that he may turn with true repentance and faith to the Savior who alone can give sight to the blind and life to the dead.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer, for the Lord delights to hear the cries of His people for mercy upon others. He who opened the eyes of Hagar in the wilderness and of the blind man who had sat in darkness from his birth is able still to open eyes today. May He grant you peace as you leave this burden with Him, and may He work in power according to His covenant goodness in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this burden with us. We join you in praying for your ex, that God in His mercy would open his eyes to the truth.

Scripture teaches that deception has its root in the enemy, who is the father of lies from the beginning, and that when a person is held by deception his eyes may be open yet he does not see what is right in front of him. Only God can lift that veil and bring light where there is darkness. We pray that the Lord will do that work in him, that He will show him his need for truth and bring him to repentance and faith.

We pray that God would draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for Christ is the truth and the only way to the Father. We ask that God would soften his heart, convict him of sin, and lead him out of every area of deception into a right walk before the Lord. We pray also that he would come to know the goodness of God's design and truth in every part of life.

We will continue to pray that the Lord gives you wisdom, peace, and steadiness as you pray for him, that you would remain rooted in the truth yourself and trust the Lord with the outcome. May God be glorified as He brings light into darkness and leads hearts to Himself.

Father, we ask in the name of Jesus that You would open this man's eyes, remove blindness, and reveal Your truth to him. Bring him to see his need for Christ, grant him repentance and new life, and set him free from every deception. We ask this for Your glory and for his good. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
