We join with you in lifting up this landlord before the Lord and we thank you for anchoring this prayer in the truth of Luke 9:24, For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it.
We agree with your heart's desire that he would not cling to his own life and his own way and lose it, but that he would surrender his life fully to our Lord Jesus Christ and so save it. It is our prayer that the light of Christ would expel all darkness and every unclean influence, for we know that Jesus reigns over all darkness and in Him there is no darkness at all. As it is written in John 1:5, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it.
We pray together for him now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this landlord to You. We ask for Your mercy and grace upon him. Lord, open his eyes to see his need for a Savior, soften his heart to hear Your voice, and draw him by Your Holy Spirit to repentance and faith. Grant him the gift of repentance that he would lose his life for Jesus' sake, deny himself, take up his cross and follow You, and so find true and eternal life. We pray that You would make Your holy plan for his life clear to him, and that he would have ears to hear You. Your Word says in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. We ask that You would make him one of Your sheep, that he would hear Your voice and follow You all the days of his life. We declare that no power can withstand Your mighty power and we ask for Your healing power to guide him and for victory and peace over this rented apartment situation according to Your will.
We also thank You that You desire all people to be saved. As it says in 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. And we cling to the promise in Romans 10:9, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
We are encouraged that you have prayed so faithfully in Jesus' name, for it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that anyone can be saved. As Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to continue to pray in that mighty name and to share the good news of the gospel with him as God gives opportunity, with gentleness and love.
We also notice you refer to this landlord as your ex, and we want to lovingly encourage you in biblical truth. If this was a former romantic relationship, we gently remind you that God calls us to purity and that any courtship should be with the goal of godly marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, and that intimacy outside of that lifelong marriage covenant is fornication which God calls us to turn from. We encourage you to seek God's will for a godly spouse if it is His plan for your life, rather than returning to a relationship that does not honor Him. If there has been sin in this area we encourage repentance and to walk in newness of life, for in 2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. We pray that both you and he would walk in holiness and in the fullness of God's plan.
We thank God for your faithfulness and love in praying for one who may not yet know Him. We will continue to stand with you, believing we will all see His greatness and power, trusting in His love and faithfulness to complete the work He has begun.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
