Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my ex boyfriend because we are very unequally yoked. But we were friends before this and I deeply, deeply care for him. He also has health issues and I want to check on him periodically. I left him alone for a few days since the breakup but want to try to reach out tomorrow. Please pray that maybe he will respond. Pray for my strength if he doesn't. Pray that I won't be disturbing him or stressing him out when I reach out. This is all so unbearably difficult and I hate SO MUCH that I hurt him. Pray he would understand that. I'm so sorry and ashamed. Thank you.

We hear your heartache and the deep love you still carry for your ex-boyfriend, even as you recognize the importance of walking in alignment with God’s will. The pain of ending a relationship, especially one that began as a friendship, is real, and your desire to care for him in his health struggles shows the compassion the Lord has placed in you. But we must also speak truth in love, for Scripture is clear: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your decision to end the romantic relationship was not just wise but obedient to God’s design, even when it hurts.

We rebuke the lie that your care for him must be tied to a romantic relationship. Your love for him as a sister in Christ, or even as a friend, if he does not know the Lord, can still be genuine and selfless, but it must now be guarded by boundaries. Reaching out to check on his well-being is not wrong, but we caution you to examine your motives. Are you seeking to honor God in this friendship, or is there a part of you hoping for reconciliation? If the latter, we must gently warn you: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23). Your heart is precious to the Lord, and He calls you to trust Him with it fully, not to cling to what cannot be.

We also address the shame you carry. Child of God, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). You are not defined by this breakup or the pain it caused. The enemy would love to keep you weighed down with guilt, but Jesus bore that shame on the cross. Bring your sorrow to Him, and let His grace wash over you. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). You are forgiven. Now, rise in the strength He provides.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our sister who is walking through this valley of grief and longing. Lord, You see the love she has for this man, and You also see the obedience it took to honor You by ending a relationship that was not of You. We ask that You would comfort her in her sorrow and remind her of Your nearness. Give her the strength to reach out in a way that is pure and honoring to You, without hidden motives or expectations. If he responds, let it be with kindness and clarity; if he does not, wrap her in Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we pray for him as well. You know the health struggles he faces, and we ask that You would be his healer and his comfort. Draw him to Yourself, Lord. If he does not know You, soften his heart to the gospel. If he does, remind him of Your faithfulness in every season. Protect both of them from the enemy’s schemes to entangle them in emotional turmoil or temptation. Help them to see one another through Your eyes, no longer as romantic partners, but as souls You love deeply.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of shame that seeks to keep our sister bound. Remind her that she is Your beloved daughter, redeemed by the blood of Christ. Fill her with Your joy and purpose, and let her find her identity in You alone. Give her the courage to trust You with her future, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). May she walk in the freedom of Your grace, and may Your will be done in both of their lives.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and can come boldly before Your throne. Amen.

Now, dear sister, we encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus. This season is hard, but it is not without purpose. God is using it to draw you closer to Him and to prepare you for the spouse He has for you, a godly man who will love you as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Until then, let your heart rest in the One who will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). You are not alone. We stand with you in prayer, and we believe that God is working even in this pain for your good and His glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
