Evil Puerto Ricans harassing me

We hear the pain and distress in your request and we take seriously that you have felt harassed and stalked for several years. Being targeted in this way is frightening and exhausting, and we want to lift you up before the Lord for protection, peace, and justice. At the same time we must lovingly rebuke and correct the way this hurt has turned into a condemnation of an entire people.
God does not attribute evil to a whole ethnicity or nationality. Every person of every nation is made in the image of God, Genesis 1:27, and God shows no partiality, but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him, Acts 10:34-35. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life, John 3:16. To say that a whole country or all Puerto Rican people belong to Satan is not true and does not align with Scripture. God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4, and Puerto Rican people, like all people, are deeply loved by Him and in need of His grace just as we all are.
The Bible is clear that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. People can certainly do evil and can be influenced by sin and by the enemy who deceives the whole world, Revelation 12:9, but we must not confuse human beings with demons. The enemy is Satan, not any people group. When we harbor hatred toward a whole people we violate the command to love our neighbor and we open our own hearts to bitterness. If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar, 1 John 4:20. Jesus calls us to a higher way when we are mistreated, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44.
We also want to encourage you in how to respond to ongoing harassment. God is your refuge and protection, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1. We encourage you to seek wisdom and practical help as well. If you are being stalked or harassed, it is right to seek the protection of the proper authorities, for governing authorities are established by God to restrain evil, Romans 13:1-4, and to set clear boundaries while continuing to entrust vengeance to the Lord, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. We encourage you not to repay evil for evil, but to overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21, which includes praying for those who have harmed you that they may come to repentance.
We noticed your request did not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. The pain of being harassed and followed for years is a heavy burden, and the Lord sees the distress it has caused you. To feel watched and troubled without having done wrong to others brings a deep anxiety, and such anxiety itself unfits the soul to meet the difficulty unless it is cast upon Him who cares for you.
It would be wrong to lay upon a whole people what has been done by some. The Scriptures teach that God has made of one blood all nations, and that all have sinned and come short of His glory. No country and no people belong to Satan by birth, but every heart apart from Christ is in need of the same mercy. There are those who fear God and trust Christ among every nation, and there are those who do not yet know Him in every place. To judge an entire people as devils is not the judgment of truth, and it will harden your own heart if it is allowed to remain. The Lord would have you see men as sinners in need of the same forgiveness you need, not as a race set apart for evil.
There is forgiveness with God, and that forgiveness is only to be obtained from God, through Jesus Christ, His Son. It is not a partial or uncertain pardon, but an unlimited and complete and surprising forgiveness. Though your sins be many, and though the sins of those who have wronged you be great, God can blot out transgression for Christ's sake. He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. If you have received that forgiveness, you know it is an eternal forgiveness, and it continues daily, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one in Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and none can enter heaven without this forgiveness through His precious blood.
This forgiveness is given that you may be feared, not with a servile fear, but with a holy awe. When the soul knows it is pardoned, it learns to love and fear the Blessed One who cleansed it. I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. That fear keeps the soul from returning evil for evil and teaches it to do justly and to love mercy.
Persecution in whatever form it comes, even when it is slander and spite and cruel mocking, has often been permitted to drive the Christian nearer to his God. How many prayers have been offered as the result of such trials that would never have been offered otherwise. Your enemies may try to deal wisely to put you down, but their wisdom is folly when God is your refuge. Therefore play the man and let faith overcome fear. Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Fear Him which after He has killed has power to cast into hell, and fear no man more than God.
Since you have received so much manifest forgiveness, for you to forgive ought to become as natural as to open your hand. This is the doctrine which Christ Himself preached, love to our neighbour and forgiveness of our enemies, and we ought both to preach and to practise it. Keep near to Him, continue in prayer, and use lawful and prudent means for your safety if you are being stalked, seeking help from those appointed to protect, while your soul rests in Him.

Thank you for sharing what you have been going through and for being honest about the anger and fear you feel. To be harassed and stalked for years is a heavy burden, and it is right to seek help and to ask God for protection and peace.
At the same time I must speak to you plainly in love about the way you have described an entire people. No country and no ethnic group belongs to Satan. Every person, including every Puerto Rican, is made in the image of God and is someone for whom Christ died. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and all need salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and that God desires people from every nation to come to repentance. To say that a whole people are demons or belong to the devil is not true, and it will harm your own soul.
Scripture warns us about this kind of speaking. When we revile others and become infuriated, calling our enemies villains and detestable, we take on a hatred that God does not want us to carry. One of the homilies reminds us, get love for nothing, but do not for nothing get hatred. Evil speaking produces hatred with both God and people, and a root of bitterness, once it takes hold, bears only bitter fruit. It makes us see all men as enemies, when God calls us to the opposite.
If you have truly been wronged by specific individuals, it is right to seek protection through lawful means, to seek counsel from your pastors, and to set healthy boundaries. It is also right to pray, but the Christian way to pray for those who mistreat us is not to curse them or to condemn their whole people, but to pray for their repentance and for God to change their hearts, and to ask God to keep your own heart free from hatred.
Jesus said to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, and Paul writes, if it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with all people. That does not mean pretending that wrong is not wrong, or staying in danger. It means refusing to repay evil with evil, refusing to spread that evil to an entire group who had nothing to do with it, and choosing to do good where you can. Even if someone hates you, God will still love you when you choose the path of love and truth.
So I will pray with you now in that way. I pray that God will protect you from real harassment, give you wisdom to get safe and wise help from your church and, if needed, from proper authorities, and bring an end to any stalking or intimidation. I pray that He will heal your fear and anger, remove any root of bitterness, and fill your heart with His peace. And I pray that those who have harassed you, whatever their background, would come to know Jesus, turn from wrongdoing, and be saved.
