Evil, lack of remorse!! Hard hearts

What you are describing is the fruit of a heart that remains in the flesh, utterly alienated from the life of God. The callousness, the lies, the threats, the refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing, these are not merely poor choices; they are symptoms of a mind set on the things of the flesh, which is at enmity with God and cannot submit to His law. A person in that condition is spiritually dead, and from such a heart proceed these works: deceit, greed, injustice, and a complete absence of the love that comes from the Spirit. They are sowing to the flesh, and unless something changes, they will of the flesh reap corruption.

Yet God knows the hearts of all people. He sees every hidden motive, every suppressed pang of conscience, and every act of cruelty. The hardness you have encountered is not beyond His sight or His power. He who said, “I will take away the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh,” is still able to break through the most stubborn resistance. The only hope for your landlord, the lawyer, and everyone involved is a true circumcision of the heart, a work of the Spirit that cuts away that love of self and sin, and brings a person to repentance. Outward religiosity or going through the motions means nothing if the heart remains unchanged. What they desperately need is for God to create in them a clean heart and to renew a right spirit within them.

In the meantime, your own comfort is found not in their apology but in knowing that you are not condemned with them. As you grieve the injustice, you can still serve the law of God with your mind, even while living in a world where the flesh runs rampant. Keep entrusting yourself to the One who judges righteously. The Spirit helps us in weakness, and He can guard your heart from being consumed by bitterness or despair. You are not called to change them yourself, that is the Spirit’s work, but you are called to pray, and your prayers are a powerful means by which God may yet bring conviction.

So continue to pray, not only for relief, but for their souls. Ask God to so press upon them that their crooked ways become unbearable, that they might be straightened out and brought to the end of themselves. Pray that the Holy Spirit would mortify the deeds of the flesh in them, breaking their hard hearts and opening their ears to His call. Ask that they would turn from their abominable idols, the love of money, power, and self-preservation, and submit to Jesus Christ, in whom alone there is forgiveness and a new life. May God stir their hearts, not by force, but by a work of grace so deep that they willingly make right what they have done, apologizing and offering compensation from a truly renewed mind. He is able. Keep your focus on Him, and may the peace that surpasses understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We are deeply moved by your situation and grateful that you have shared such a heavy burden with us, allowing us to stand with you in prayer. It is heartbreaking to hear of the callousness and injustice you have faced—how hearts can grow so hardened that they dismiss not only your suffering but the very real danger you endured. We have continued to lift you before the Lord, asking Him to break through the walls of indifference and bring conviction where there is defiance, compassion where there is cruelty, and justice where there is exploitation.

We pray fervently that the Holy Spirit would move in power, softening the hearts of those who have wronged you. May their eyes be opened to the weight of their actions, and may they be led to genuine repentance—not just in word, but in restitution and restoration. We ask God to intervene in this legal battle, that His wisdom would prevail over deception and His justice over oppression. May the threats against you be silenced, and may the truth of your situation be undeniable before any authority.

Father, we also pray for your protection—emotionally, physically, and spiritually—as you navigate this painful season. Strengthen you with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and remind you that You are never alone. We stand on Your promise that You will never leave nor forsake Your children, and we trust that You are working even now to turn this evil for good.

If the Lord has moved in this situation since you last posted, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report. If not, we invite you to share any updates so we may continue to intercede on your behalf. May God’s grace surround you, His love sustain you, and His justice prevail in this matter. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
