Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your burden for your daughter has been heard and we join you in prayer for her before the Lord who loves her even more than you do.
Scripture teaches us what true friendship is. It is not simply eating and drinking together, for even robbers and murderers have that kind of company, but it is brother helping brother as a fortified city. A friendship that is formed only from habit or from pleasure or from interest will fade when those things fade, and such friendships can be more harmful than open enmity because they teach harm while calling it love. The friendships that endure are those formed upon godliness and virtue, where friends help one another to turn away from what leads to destruction and to walk toward what is good. For this reason we are called to let our love abound not blindly but in knowledge and discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent and be sincere and without offense before God and before others.
We pray for your daughter in this light.
Heavenly Father, we bring this daughter before You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to Your mercy. Surround her with Your protection and open her eyes to see clearly the character and intent of those around her. Grant her knowledge and discernment to recognize manipulation and harm for what it is, and give her courage to turn away from it. Remove from her life those influences that would lead her away from what is good and profitable, and in Your kindness bring into her life friends who love You and who will love her with a godly love, friends who will help her toward virtue and not toward harm. Strengthen her heart to seek what is excellent and to stand firm even when it is difficult. Comfort her parents also, and give them wisdom to speak the truth in love, to show patient care, and to trust You with what they cannot control. We ask this trusting in Your goodness and power to keep and to restore. Amen.
Continue to love her steadily, to pray for her, and to set before her the example of a friendship that is rooted in godliness. Speak honestly with her about what you see, not with harshness but with clear and patient truth, and keep commending her to the Lord who is able to guard her and to lead her into what is best.
